DJI claims $10 billion valuation in fundraising campaign

I'd love to think they would consider putting capital into service, but I wonder whether past and current sales incentivizes them to do so. They have had a fairly bad rep for service as long as I can remember - and that very Forbes article is predicting a double in revenue from their banner...

DJI claims $10 billion valuation in fundraising campaign

Does $10 billion seem to suggest moving into other market segments (gov't contracts etc)? Or is this simply to expand production for consumer market?

PRODUCT REVIEW: Think Tank Photo Airport Helipack

That's exactly what I was thinking!!!! It would have been so easy to slap this on the back of the bike for that trip. And the inclusion of a rain cover would have been absolutely necessary last year!!!! Wow, that was some hard rain., especially at 70mph. :)

PRODUCT REVIEW: Think Tank Photo Airport Helipack

Thanks Sleepy! It's a cool bag for anyone wanting super-easy transport with a sense of security for this expensive gear. The bike is ugly - or at least odd looking, but man! It's fun to ride. Comfortable also. I did many trips from Brooklyn to Vermont up Route 95 (arguably the most miserable...

What kind of forum is this?

I'm with you. I love excitement - as long as everyone is safe, and more specifically, doesn't give the hobby a black eye. Specific courses seems like the best way to get that done. Sadly for me, something tells me this is prime for west coast space and weather. At the rate this winter is going...

What kind of forum is this?

I really have no idea. :) But you do seem to have some new ideas, and certainly some energy. I'll be following along to see what you come up with.

No offense taken. You point out what I love about the hobby and this forum. It takes all kinds.

PRODUCT REVIEW: Think Tank Photo Airport Helipack

PRODUCT REVIEW: Think Tank Photo Airport Helipack There are two hobbies that I have always wanted to be able to experience together, motorcycle riding and multirotors. So imagine my surprise when a DJI Phantom-specific backpack, made by the fine folks at ThinkTankPhoto.com, showed up on the...

What kind of forum is this?

I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable speaking for others here on the forum. But I can say that I've run across quite a few here who are inquisitive and productive in the directions the hobby has led us. Can't say I've ever thought about drone obstacle courses - a wide open, empty field can...

What kind of forum is this?

I would definitely NOT consider this a forum that is filled with naysayers and people unwilling to explore ideas. It's how I ended up here, due in part to having experiences on other forums that sound similar to yours. Welcome!

need help with current setup... before I judo chop this than

That's a loaded question :). Unfortunately the success of a gimbal is a bit of black magic. But there is also a certain amount of "get what you pay for" when it comes to these things. Ideally, no flex or binding, and full adjustability. I still have not found the "perfect" gimbal....

    Help GPS issue

Yep. They all look the same or similar. It's just that Witespy chooses the components for his boards a little more carefully. His sketch is pretty good as well, so if yours is similar - that's always a good starting point. Try the other GPS. Can't hurt :)

On what site? The RTFQuads? If so, the differences in the boards are certain components. Also, quality control.

    Help GPS issue

Very weird. Can't imagine the slight physical weight of the GPS is effecting it. Checking the sketch is your best bet. Otherwise, the GPS may be defective.

    Help GPS issue

I'm assuming that if you were running without GPS, then it must have the compass onboard? I know that the "newer" designs had the compass available on the GPS itself - because of interference when on the main board. So you never had the GPS physically on the MR at all until recently? Or it...

    Help GPS issue

No, I was talking about only when GPS was being used. If it's causing issues without GPS being utilized, that's a weirder problem. Do you have a link to your specific board and GPS?

    Help GPS issue

Have you programmed in the magnetic declination in the sketch? You'll need to have that correct. If not, that could be causing issues. Also, sounds goofy, but I remember having a hard time finding the correct way to orient the GPS on the MR. Turned out i was supposed to be ignoring the...

need help with current setup... before I judo chop this than

You definitely don't want to pull power off the balance plug. It is a sure fire way to make the battery deplete unbalanced, and could lead to very bad things. One thing I notice about the setup is that the gimbal is the type with no support on the opposite side of pitch motor. These rarely work...

    Greetings from Southern Utah

I have used the Phantom 2 for video as well, which produced decent results, but also left me wanting something "more." So I have wrestled with getting better footage from larger rigs, and have become quite frustrated by the larger gimbals and their controllers. I'm still trying though! :)...
