Aerial DP
that was a full production local 600 shoot in Jersey. because of such, they tried pulling aerial permits for us but luckily they didn't ask the right people and there people gave up the wrong answer. Our flights wound up being approved by the mayor of Newark and the senator of New Jersey. We had full police escort...... choppers overhead at points, the works.

If you want criticism you've come to the right place!

I'm kind of mad at you because that's some of the best AP of one subject [all about the college] that I've seen and I think your fishing for compliments and you won't get any of those here.

Seriously, that is some of the best AP out there. I know there's some great RED aerial shots but as far as creating an entire video about a single subject, that's about as good as it gets.

But that's also the one criticism that I have about it. If this was the entire project, not just an edit of the aerial shots, then my one criticism is that you needed some equally great shots from the ground. TV/Computer monitor/iPads are close up mediums, aerial creates great establishing shots but lacks the intimacy that these displays require.

An example would be when your flying over the footbridge at the creak, that was a great shot that would have been been better if you added some shots from the ground of a beautiful co-ed or young family walking across it. There are some great shots looking into what appears to be the library or student union, add some shots looking out of the same building. That would draw the viewer into the video.

None of this really has to do with your aerial work, its more about effective video production, I really enjoyed your footage.

Good job.

Thanks Chuck! I completely agree about aerials not being a complete solution. Unfortunately we lack the ground video chops and the time to put together a complete production.

Beautiful work on the foggy filming guys. Question: I believe the wkm manual says not to fly in fog. Has anybody ever experienced problems in fog? I've always wanted to fly fog, but dji scared me away.

DJI F450 over South Wales coast

Nice vids guys! Here's another one for the foggy collection!

Cracking flight over Southerndown Beach on the rugged South Wales coastline.
There was very little breeze, it's just a shame it was overcast. The onboard altimeter told me those clouds I almost got lost in were at 570ft!!

Shot this out in the California Desert last week. My first real shot at some aerial art, and man was it fun to get out in the open and stretch my FPV limits. What an amazing place.

Merlin of Multirotors
Boston Area Multirotor meetup

Sunday the first meetup of the Boston arean multirotor group took place at Larz Anderson park in Brookline MA. I was going to bring only FPV multis but at the last minute decided to swap my MK Hexa over to a gimbal that could carry my old Hero HD since I have yet to replace the Hero 3 that is now at the bottom of a mud pit! Did quite a bit of flying before the rain finally started later in the day, here's some clips from the flights, as always, no post production modification of any sort on the video other than cut and paste...

The only reason I don't believe there's no post stabilization is that no one can be that good...

Ken, thats some really smooth footage and what I like about it is that it doesn't look like aerial footage, it doesn't "swim" all over the place. Looks like its a 200ft jib shot.

How many people showed up at the meet up?

Nice.

Thanks Chuck!

I do have to give a lot of the credit to the machine, it was my first MK and last time I looked at the stats on the F/C it was somewhere north of 30 hours flight time on the airframe, that's a lot of battery cycles. Needless to say, across the 4 years I've owned it I've gotten it fairly well dialed in and pretty comfortable with how it flys, stir in lots of stick time on the same multi with the abilities of a well tuned brushless gimbal and you have the ingredients for some decent video without having to do a lot of cleanup with software on the back end.

I didn't do a head count but I'm fairly certain we had over a dozen pilots show up over the course of the time I was there, many stayed for the duration, some dropped in flew a bit then left. Hard to keep track when you spend most of the time in the air either recording video or behind a set of FPV goggles.

Is all of the GH3 footage? Looks really good. How does a GH3 compare wight wise to a 7D? What lens do you use?

I liked the footage, however, there has to be a law against sampling the Eurytmics in a RAP song?
