that facebook post was a uas group with a coa at an airshow today in Colorado and they did the whole thing......
Not sure where this came from?
I am absolutely too tired to post the entire message of what happened today between myself and the faa, i truly cannot believe the change of heart we saw today after we worked with them. I will be posting a video to show a little proof of the unbelievably amazing change of heart. Its funny there is a clear separation of ideology between certain "sects," of the faa. I will be posting the footage tomorrow (hopefully), but after we had finished about 3.5 hours of filming, they were so impressed they asked us for footage to showcase the safe use and promotion of a positive response to the beta test that they ran. This was an faa sanctioned event, we were allowed to fly under the ama, thanks to mike harrington for making that possible. (He doesnt work for the faa). These people are human just like you and i, i think one of the wise old pilots said it best today, "it is easier for them (the faa) to say no to a new technology when they don't understand the technology. They will always say yes when they end up seeing and loving the technology if used in the right way." But the long story short, i met the guy who drafted a set of regulations, and got to hear some really honest opinions (although not official). Fact of the matter is this, the FAA is clearly after one main goal: safety. When someone doesn't fully understand drones then how can they make legitimate rules and regulations to certify pilots? Great question. We were told the wheels are turning and they haven't seen this much attention in "decades." You should expect that some sort of law will happen by end of next year. But it may take 4-5 years to really get into place. At the end of the day, the faa does not work for us... The really work for congress. We were told if we want something done we need to work with our congressmen, if we want to have our voices heard. Sounds pretty similiar to how the highschool history books say how congress works. I did hear about the lawsuits today, GREAT JOB PETER. I was also told that will, most likely, speed up this process. I will publish the coa in the footage so everyone can see. Im not completely full of ****. Cheers guys, stay positive, we will in the end...get what we want. Dont forget, tomorrow is the faa forum where we will be speaking, on integration.. The feed is going to be live on rmairshow.com i hope you guys chine in and represent the legitimacy, classy side of uav pilots that will make a difference in the world through responsible flight and incredible footage!
I spoke to one of the FAA pinheads today, there's a huge difference between what happened in Colorado and Camarillo. The Colorado event is supported by the FAA because it reenforces their interpretation of "Hobbyist," its really just the AMA and FAA sucking up to each other. We were shut down because the FAA considered our advocacy for sUAS small business to be commercial. Of coarse if the flight demonstrations in Colorado supported the sales of RC equipment I don't understand why that wouldn't be considered commercial?
There was no grey area, once they considered our activity to be commercial, he said that was against the law and it was never even considered. The guy that I spoke to doesn't see the hypocrisy nor will they admit that defining the regulations based on Hobbyist vs professional is unreasonable. They even pulled the guy flying the RC Jet and he's been doing that for five years. This is bizarre. There were about five or six FAA officials at the show, and your right they DO NOT think they work for us, they strutted around the air show like they were the one's responsible for it because they "let us" play with our planes. Arrogant pricks -- I'm pissed.
I shouldn't admit this, I was parked at the show tower and one of them asked me for a ride to get some lunch, I gave him a ride then I left him so he had to walk back, When he got back he came up to me and started giving me grief about how I shouldn't be just driving around the show [before the politically correct agree with him, I had a ramp pass which allows me to go anywhere, which is why he asked me for the ride in the first place], I tole him to f%$# Off. I wish you could have seen his face. I know its stupid and not much of a victory and not something a responsible advocate for small sUAS businesses should do but it was either that or hit him.
I'll see if he asks for a ride tomorrow. I bet they revoke my ramp pass...
