Sorry - forgot about the nacelles... Actually I'm just scoring more posts - wondering what I'm in for next after my "Pilot Extraordinaire"... Haha! Yep - nacelles are surely included! They are REALLY cool... if I may say so. You get 6 black ones and two orange ones in case you want to do some signalling for orientation... Same for the boots... :tennis: This is exciting!
Cool, no doubt I'll add what I call 'fruit' to the XM-6 over the coming months/years (different colour nacelles and boots perhaps later). Looks are important, that's why I like tidy wires on my flight controllers, and I'm cable tie king!!! :tennis: Thanks for all the questions you are answering, I'm sure we'll all calm down on the questions soon. I think its just great to have droidworx on board. heheh. I hope we dont chase you away...

Yep, cant wait really. All ready now I think to get the exact machine in the air that I've wanted since I started this stuff last November. So, with the 4 week wait time, a few weeks to build it (I have a 2 year old, will need to do it after 7pm every night) I think this XM-6 will have its maiden flight to mark my 1st 12 months of multirotors. Perhaps I'll light a cake with 12 candles (one for every month) and hover over it to blow them out!!!! Yeah, that'll be cool (and weird)... I'm doing it.

I'm what I regard as a typical Kiwi diy modeler. I've been APing for 5 years part time with a heli and started the multicopter thing 2 years ago. I have a "disposable fpv quad", a good diy quad and my main light-weight diy octo. Well after two years, I am not convinced that I can diy build better than what I fly (commercially) now... Time to treat myself :D The VM-6 is ordered. I can't justify a big machine - I suspect I'll diy a 900-1000mm one day but I simply want something light, strong and NEW! I'm almost in the DW club

Pete,
You're in the Droidworx club already mate. Congratulations on the purchase. My 1st droidworx was 2nd hand, the XM-6 will be my 1st brand new one. I'm sure we'll be building at the same time, so we can compare notes. I'm still not sure if I will make mine + or x hexa. I'm thinking x to avoid boom in camera frame.... 1st world problems eh?

I did a + diy hexa and I didn't find the front boom a problem - but I had the camera mount under the front arm forward of the central hub. The battery was on the rear to balance the weight. I will need to see if the legs are tall enough to keep the camera clear of the front arm. I haven't considered any other orientation... I suppose I should! I found the orientation a lot easier than the octo is.

Haha - that is SO funny! Make sure you'll tape that for us... :nevreness: Oh - and ask anything you like - I'm really enjoying all this! It's my 'winding down' after a full day of hard work... this is the part I'm loving the most!

Oh - and ask anything you like

I do have another question... The folding boom joints... Those aloy and poly knuckle things look fantastic. I gather they will be part of the boom assembly so the carbon fiber tubes are the correct length. Am I correct in assuming that they are a complete boom product?
Also, What is the weight of the XM-6 frame with standard landing gear? I cannot find it on the site. I'd like to estimate my AUW to see if I need to change prop configuration for the hexa...
Thank you.

I build my own camera mounts. Any idea how height between the dirt and under the VM u/c? It fits an AV130... so how high is that??? ;)

Hi Nic,

The folding booms are actually not available yet - they'll be an optional extra once we have finished the final tests. We're expecting to know more about release date within the next 3 weeks... Sorry - I hope you're not disappointed now...?

I owe you the weight of your XM-6: it's just over 1kg, 1029 with dome, 1097 with crash cage (you'll receive both) and this includes boots and nacelles etc. Mind you - it is an approximate weight - we have disassembled are frames to be reassembled again with the new manuals we're making now and the only other craft are fully rigged up. So we weighed all the components and added it all up - works too...

Sorry it took so long to come back! Was crazy busy last week and had to catch up on some sleep and some sanity this weekend... :) Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi Pete!

Ground clearance from gear rail is 197.39mm to be precise... Let me know if you have any further questions!

Cheers,
Linda

The new 'Power distribution board 8'... (luverly) Can I retro it to an AD-8 HL? And if so where does it go, how does it fit and what size ESCs can it handle?(I use HobbyWing 40A Platinums). Thanks in advance, James

Thanks for the info. I'm very excited about the build in October, and I'm even considering the PDB you have, and have 2 uBecs connected in with the ESC's.... I'm really going to be super neat with this build, and keep weight as low as possible. I'll be using a ZeroTech YS-X6 system for the XM-6, or if smaller, their soon to be released YS-X4 controller with GPS.

Anyone get's any response from contacting Droidworx directly from their website? It's been two weeks and no emails are answered.
