Which lens for a NEX 5N?

By the way, the Nex series stabilization is lens based and not all lenses have it. I don't think the 16 mm is stabilized. And the third party lenses won't be.

Which lens for a NEX 5N?

My brother wanted my recommendation for a digital camera and had it in his head that he needed a big Canon. I kept trying to convince him that the NEX 5N was everything he needed and more. Finally I stepped out in the front yard and showed him the in-camera panorama. He couldn't beat feet...

Which lens for a NEX 5N?

I just got the Sigma 19 mm in Sony E-mount. Most reviews say better optics than the Sony 16 mm and I like the focal length (29 mm vs 24 mm equiv). Not quite as light as the 16 mm but not as large or heavy as the 18 - 55 kit lens. Not very expensive either.

    Hoverfly is at the RNC

Jes1111. That definition of a crash may be the funniest thing I've read in a while. At least since the commenter on a post about Lance Armstrong being stripped of all his medals: "I'll bet that cheater didn't never walk on the moon neither."

    Y6 boom length

Here's a link for carbon fiber tubes. http://www.flycarbon.com/ I saw a post somewhere that Rusty was pretty enthusiastic about these tubes.

    Foxtech M700 7" monitor

I'd swear that I didn't have to switch my blu-ray player over to PAL to get the monitor to react. I just plugged it in and a static-filled screen replaced the blue screen but it was enough to see the menu. At least that's what I seem to remember.

    Naza f550 and DSLR

Search for Trex 450 tail boom. That's 12 mm and Trex booms are used a lot for multirotor arms. The Trex 500 boom is 5/8ths inch by the way. I measured my AeroXcraft tubes just to be sure and it is 12 mm.

    Naza f550 and DSLR

    I'm pretty sure it's a standard 12 mm tube.

Good info about crimping and connectors

Really good info about servo connectors and crimping. Great read for beginners by Chris Hansen of Hansen Hobbies. http://www.hansenhobbies.com/products/connectors/Connectors.pdf This is very well written and presented. A whole bunch of manufacturers should hire Chris to write their user...

    Lateral play in motors

Brant, here's a link. Go ahead a laugh, we deserve it. We'd elect a syphilitic goat if it ran on the Republican ticket. http://www.cnn.com/2012/08/23/us/texas-judge-warning/index.html

    Lateral play in motors

LOL, Brant, of course I've heard of Plano. We're not that far out in the sticks here in Lubbock although I agree it seems like it sometimes. More people will know where Lubbock is in the next few days after an idiotic rant by our brain dead County Judge made national news headlines. Look it...

    High Altitude Disaster

Well I should have watched all the video all the way to the end. No descent to that, just hung up there till it ran out of gas. It might have started its low battery failsafe descent if you had it set up but no way it could make it to the ground on that from that height. I agree with...

    High Altitude Disaster

I'm just guessing here but some things I have noticed that could be in play here. First, the descent on RTH seems to be very slow, even from a relatively low altitude it has seemed to take a long time to land. Second, descending straight down seems to be a difficult flight regime for a multi...

XAircraft Xaircraft to DJI m Advise please

A BEC reduces input voltage to a lower output voltage. BEC stands for Battery Eliminator Circuit because by reducing the flight battery pack voltage down to the lower voltage needed for the electronics, for example, it "eliminates" the need for a separate lower voltage battery just to power the...

    Lateral play in motors

In my first month or two of flying when it seemed landing right side up was a rarity worth celebrating, I noticed play in the rotors a lot too. It seems that you don't have to crash hard, a prop strike not even hard enough to crack a prop can still mess up bearings. They're not that expensive...

    Lateral play in motors

Really? Patrick and AerialMediaPros are pretty highly regarded around here, especially by anybody who's done business with him. With the going rate for Avrotos, that leaves a reasonable amount left over for the conversion mounts, so I don't see the problem.

    Sony Nex-5n - downlink

It's about .5 in outside diameter and .25 in deep. Wrapped in bare copper wire and I soldered the exposed ends into the signal wire and covered the whole thing with shrink wrap. I got a bag of the things at Radio Shack. I was just shooting in the dark and really didn't expect them to work so well.

    Sony Nex-5n - downlink

I can attest to the effectiveness of ferrite cores. Just setting up my monitor system and on first flight had tons of static/lines while under power. Put a barrel type core on the power supply lines to the tx and soldered a small pre-wrapped toroid into the video signal line and it cleaned it...
