GH3 takes lower resolution stills using shutter release cable.

I will tell you that when the HDMI cable is in, stills are set to 16:9 mode (vs. 4:3 mode normally) and there's no way to change that. Maybe you're seeing something similar. Unfortunately the GH4 has the same behavior. Kind of a show-stopper for stills on my copters.

Airsight 4: A Strong Shouldered Quad

Yes, good call. That's the issue. There's a lot of joints in this thing, and it's not clear it needs them. That's one of my issues. I'm used to the Cinestar build, which is a beast and super solid and tough. I may end up building a smaller Cinestar-type body as a quad.

Airsight 4: A Strong Shouldered Quad

It's pretty cool, but it's a prototype that I'm evaluating. Not sure if it's as good as it looks. But that's why it's a prototype. ;-)

    BMPCC on a Phantom 2?

kloner, I'm not sure I'd agree that the BMPCC "sucks", although I'd agree it's not a great choice for aerials. The main selling point of it is that it's a $1000 (oops...make that $500!) camera that can shoot raw (well, sort of...ProRes is basically raw) and grades up nice next to bigger cameras...

XAircraft Speed differences between GPS and ATTI/Manual?

If you think ATTI mode is fast, then you should probably hold off on Manual mode. Depending on your copter's specific details, it may shock you how agile (or dangerous) it becomes when you shift to manual.

    Nice UAV Wedding Video

An interesting story all the way around. I thought it was pretty artfully done, although it appears as though it was heavily stabilized in post. It has that jerky, jumpy look that's common in these cases. Or, it could have just been badly processed (too high or too low a data rate, or a frame...

Airsight 4: A Strong Shouldered Quad

Endurance test: almost 20 minutes...no problemo! After running some calculations in eCalc, I decided to test eCalc's assertion that I could get 20+ minutes of flight time with my current config (8 lbs AUW with 14" props). Sure enough, got 19 minutes easy just now. Low voltage light was blinking...

Airsight 4: A Strong Shouldered Quad

Sage advice! Thanks. I did change the switch to enable manual mode instead of making it do RTH. I am still flying with 100% default gains, so I was a little uneasy about flying manual, but it actually handles really nicely. I think it's going to move like a bat out of hell, as it's way...

    How to use ecalc?

Well, now it's working. Some very interesting conclusions, too.

Airsight 4: A Strong Shouldered Quad

I got the Feiyu Tech gimbal MacGyver'd onto the copter today. Did a quickie flight with it, and it seems to work well. No noticeable wobbling, although I'm used to flying a MōVI M5 and I miss having that 3rd axis. The quad yaws quite abruptly! Oh, and I have to reconfigure my legs...they are in...

    How to use ecalc?

I can't for the life of me get ecalc to work for me. I've tried it on Safari and Chrome on my Mac and IE on my PC. It seems to be calculating huge numbers for the weight of my copter. Can anybody get it to work at the moment? I understand they've got technical issues regarding login, etc. Here's...

Airsight 4: A Strong Shouldered Quad

I didn't get the BTU, but I think I'm going to order one. Seems useful, plus the mission planner thing is a nice toy. :)

Motors at idle up to 50% throttle...how to fix?

Thank you! I find the documentation to be sorely lacking for this. Is there a good writeup or video somewhere that walks through the various configuration options and procedures?

Motors at idle up to 50% throttle...how to fix?

Thanks! Kinda weird, but OK. ;-) OK, so another related question: my mode switch toggles between Atti, Atti/GPS and Failsafe. I think that's how I set it up by removing the binding plug during binding. If I re-do the binding without doing that, will that upper position change from Failsafe to...

Motors at idle up to 50% throttle...how to fix?

I am building this copter, and flew it for the first time yesterday: http://www.multirotorforums.com/showthread.php?20678-Airsight-4-A-Strong-Shouldered-Quad This is my first foray into Naza land. I'm an experienced Mikrokopter guy. Of note is that while the copter flew OK for a maiden, I have...

Airsight 4: A Strong Shouldered Quad

Airframe is all together now, electronics are installed and configured, and it's time for a checkout ride! I got everything together as per my list above, and ended up using a set of 14" Xoar PJN props I had sitting around. Didn't balance them, but didn't care that much, either. I ran motor...

    Multi rotor wash area?

I'd think you need to be outside the ring of your motors, which is hard. Maybe just a 1 meter aluminum boom of some sort (carefully balanced of course) might do it.

DJI has released its 3-Axis stabilized handheld gimbal system--the Ronin

It is confusing. It says: Weight: 4.20kg (9.26lbs) fully loaded with handlebar Load Weight (Reference Value): 7.25kg (16lbs) One might imagine that the gimbal is 4.2kg without a camera, and they consider 7.25kg the "nominal" weight with camera. But as is typically the case, DJI are not being...

Airsight 4: A Strong Shouldered Quad

I am a Cinestar/Octo guy, and committed to the heavy lift platform I spent more than a year designing, building, testing and flying. And when it's time, it'll be a real moneymaker for me. But I've found over the last year that I miss having a smaller copter that's less complicated to put in the...
