    KDE XF esc's

I have a set of the KDE 35A ESCs on my big quad (running 6S with an AUW of 8.5 lbs or so) and I had a pretty nasty crash the other day. My ESCs got beat up (major electrical short from one of the motor's wires getting munched and shorting out). Melted a bunch of stuff. But...well, you can read...

Airsight 4: A Strong Shouldered Quad

After reconfiguring things and replacing my dinged up props with some 16" Foxtech Supreme Lite props I had, the copter flew like dog meat. ATTI was shaky and GPS/ATTI was all but unusable. My GPS mast was all the way forward (30cm) on the copter and in the NAZA assistant. Bleh. So I made a...

    Battery Brands

You get what you pay for. Zippys are cheap, and they work, but not as well as the better brands. But if you could be more specific, you might get a better answer. What size are you looking at, and for what purpose?

Motor Testing Equality- Independent and Unbiased

In my humble opinion, I believe that only a true, independent professional engineer with no affiliation to any manufacturer or reseller can do this with integrity. In the consumer arena, organizations such as Consumer Reports and others constantly struggle with methodologies and techniques to...

Airsight 4: A Strong Shouldered Quad

Thank you, KDE Direct! I have been using this big quad as a test bed, and as you know if you've read this thread, I'm using the new-ish KDE Direct 35A ESCs. I was a little reluctant to use them when I found out that they have no programmability interface...that they "just work". Well, we all...

Moved GPS antenna, GPS is drifting badly

I'm certainly no expert, but I am pretty sure the configuration parameters are for the GPS antenna, not the main flight control unit. The assistant software says "Make sure the location and oreintation of the Main controller and the GPS is correct, and then fill in the distance between body...

Moved GPS antenna, GPS is drifting badly

I have a big quad with the NAZA-M V2. In an attempt to isolate my 1.3gHz vTX antenna, I tried moving my GPS puck as far forward as I could on my big quad. I have a CF boom out front for my gimbal, so I put the antenna (mast and puck) out there. GPS fix was horrible before, and it's great now. I...

Will AirDog put us out of business? Drone will follow you anywhere...

This thing is an accident waiting to happen. There's a long list of things that just aren't very well thought out. What happens when the guy on the ski slope next to you has one, too? And what happens when you're near a tree or a power line or a building (or anything other than clear air)? And...

Airsight 4: A Strong Shouldered Quad

I haven't weighed the bare frame, but the whole copter's AUW is about 9 pounds with a 8000mAh 6S LiPo, a GoPro on a gimbal, and all the other stuff.

    fail safe binding

Good question. I didn't know that was something I should try. :upset: The first weird symptom I noticed is my gimbal's tilt went wonky and it tipped up. I corrected it, but I think that was RC interference? But then my video started to break up. The DJI miniOSD was reporting that I was at 50m...

    fail safe binding

OK, this bit me today, I think. My DX8 -> AR8000 connection probably went south today at about 750m out. I tried to engage RTH on the DX8 (I had tested that yesterday and it worked), but probably because the signal had gone bad the RTH was ignored I then figured I should power off the DX8 and...

Airsight 4: A Strong Shouldered Quad

OK, did a 180°, so to speak, and decided to go back to a familiar frame type. The frame I was using was interesting, but a little too unsteady. So I went with clone parts with which I'm way more familiar. It was pretty easy to transfer everything over to the new frame, and it all flew...

Airsight 4: A Strong Shouldered Quad

And now better with FPV...and goats and sheep! The copter is behaving very nicely, and now with the DJI miniOSD I can do a better job of monitoring the vitals (especially power!). This was a fun 13 minute flight at about 1/4 mile. The 1.3 gHz downlink was very solid, although I've got a IBCrazy...

Freefly Movi M5 Brushless Gimbal, Official Users' Thread

I followed the Freefly procedure to the letter when I did my M5 update, and it worked fine. It did pause for a few minutes after the Mac finished sending over the file, but eventually the MōVI rebooted itself and came back online. Worked like a champ. Here's my post on the Freefly forum...

Can I have Manual mode *AND* RTH mode accessible?

I currently have my flight mode switch on my Spektrum Dx8 programmed for GPS/Atti, Atti, and Manual modes. I like having Manual accessible, as I'm new to the Naza, and I want to be able to override the flight control's brain if things get wonky (I've read all the flyaway stories). But I'd also...

GH3 takes lower resolution stills using shutter release cable.

Dude, think like Rube Goldberg. All you need is an FPV board cam stuck to the back of the GH3, trained on the LCD. Downlink that instead of the GH3. Done. You're welcome. LOL.

GH3 takes lower resolution stills using shutter release cable.

That's why I need to be able to switch between the GH4 (video awesomeness) and 5D Mark III (stills awesomeness). I just got a remote release for the 5D Mark III and now I can trigger it on the MōVI M5. And the 5D Mark III has composite video out.

GH3 takes lower resolution stills using shutter release cable.

There's a composite out, but it doesn't do live view; it's for video and stills playback only. Pretty useless.
