AlexMos and other brushless gimbal controllers....what is the truth?

Indeed. DJI did a good job of building a “plug and play” solution, but if you don’t have the right plugs, you can’t play.

AlexMos and other brushless gimbal controllers....what is the truth?

After a few weeks of fiddling with the Alexmos board from ArmBGC, I was convinced that I had a dud, so I ordered another Alexmos board from Viacopter, and unfortunately saw the same problems. But after putting away the whole project for a month, I began to think through it, and developed a...

    Panasonic GH3 Users thread

There are two issues with live view from the GH3 in stills mode. The viewfinder does blank out when the camera takes a picture if you’re using the HDMI video out (with a converter) through a video TX More seriously, the camera seems to switch to 16:9 mode when using an HDMI cable in stills...

    Panasonic GH3 Users thread

It does, but it’s not worth the trouble. The GH3 has a built-in intervalometer, and that’s what I use. Why waste time triggering the shutter? You can just delete the 100 or so photos you don’t want when you land.

    Panasonic GH3 Users thread

Right now it’s in an X8 config, but I’m not sure it’ll stay that way. Feels like I’m losing too much power vs. a flat 8. And the gimbal is direct-drive in both pitch and roll (GBM5108 PRO on both) using BrushlessGimbals.com hardware.

    Panasonic GH3 Users thread

I’ve been flying the GH3 with the 12-35 lens for several months. I’m quite happy with this setup. I use it for both stills and video. If you’re going to do video with it, you have to get a ND filter or two. I use a 3X and 6X depending on the light. The quality of the video is fantastic. I have...

Take free flying lessons from this guy!

I just captured the video off YouTube and watched it carefully frame-by-frame. It appears just before he lost control, the copter banked back toward him, well past 45° (nearly to 90° maybe) before it fell out of the frame and reappeared completely out of control. I've experienced this before...

Take free flying lessons from this guy!

The camera op (I think) said just before it all went bad “the left and right isn’t really working”, which might indicate that the issue was that the two TXs got their signals crossed. I can imagine that could cause some problems if the cam op was banging his sticks, and somehow one of his...

FS: Two GBM4114-120T brushless motors $110

I bought these for a project, and they're not going to fit what I'm doing. They are these motors, specifically designed for brushless gimbal usage: http://www.armbgc.com/gbm4114-120t/ I have never used them, and they're in perfect condition. Price delivered to you in the USA is $110 (Paypal...

Is there a camera which can be zoomed when airborne?

Yes. Yes. Yes. :) But mine is on a Cinestar 8 with Mikrokopter electronics and the MK LANC board. I do have it hooked up to my Iftron video TX for FPV, although it's not particularly well-suited for general flying, especially because I'm using Radian stabilizers, and you're actually better off...

Mikrokopter USB port on MK Navi board?

That'd be cool, but Windows needs a driver for the hardware. Can't talk to the port with the drivers I have installed. Do you know of another way to interface to it?

Mikrokopter USB port on MK Navi board?

I am using the MK-USB board to talk to my MK stack on my Cinestar 8 and it works great. But I noticed that the Navi board actually as a USB port on it. I tried plugging into it, but Windows says it doesn't know what to do with the connection. Does it do anything? Can I use it instead of the...
