    IRIS+

I had a lot of issues with Arducopter on my SkyJib about a year ago so I ended up using a Wokoong on it instead. But I use it on several other machines and I pay close attention to the project. I honestly think the team behind it are the most clever people in the industry and that they are doing...

CASA (Australian) UAV controller / operator certificate

They use top equipment and lots of it. It's not all doom and gloom though. And remember there are two sides to every story. This is just my perspective and I'm sure there are some who would say I'm full of it and don't know what I'm talking about. Interestingly enough the most successful company...

    Garbage on APM CLI

You can access the logs, download and graph them, from tabs below the Heads Up Display in the Flight Data screen of Mission Planner. I'm sure the other GCS programs have the same capability.

    Garbage on APM CLI

Yes. Before the garbage comes up slowy hit Enter a few times and see if you get the command prompt. BTW, the CLI was removed in some versions to save space. I've lost track of when. What is it you are trying to do from within a CLI? I think most everything can be done from the GUI now.

    Garbage on APM CLI

I've seen this before with 3DR APMs. I really can't remember how I dealt with it. I think that I just restarted it and hit enter a few times while it was starting up. It might have something to do with getting some keyboard input at the right time in the boot process. Sorry I can't remember the...

    UAV for Power Line Inspection

That's really interesting. Thanks for posting it.

DJI Inspire 1, What's the Verdict?

I saw an Inspire in the flesh for the first time last night. It was very impressive. Flew perfectly during both aggressive and slow flying. Ground station software on the iPad was just awesome with real time high def display. Looks to be very well engineered and built. Really just an amazing bit...

    UAV for Power Line Inspection

@fmkit - Is that a typical inspection? Awesome flying and I've never seen shots zoomed in like that before. Do they also use stills? I'd assume that stills would have much higher res. But that video is great. What kind of setup was used?

CASA (Australian) UAV controller / operator certificate

@Rentakill - I'd be interested in knowing what you think the answers are to those questions in relation to Sydney. I suspect I'll be doing more work in your area than down here in Canberra with some luck. I'm still waiting for my OC so I can't add too much about the scene in Canberra but so far...

Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers

Is anyone here a member of the SMPTE? I'm just looking for some feedback as to if it's a good organization to be a member of? They appear to have a strong chapter in Australia and I thought it might be good to get involved with some industry types. TIA

Naza v2- How to autonomous flight?

Yes, you can connect with a USB cable set up the mission and upload it to the APM/Pixhawk. Then when you swich to mode 'Auto' with your Tx it will fly the mission. Yes, that's the idea. You'll get a real time display of the flight path and all parameters. Plus you get logs both on the ground...

Naza v2- How to autonomous flight?

Yes, although you need to have the telemetry radio as well. If you are considering buying an APM consider the Pixhawk instead. It doesn't cost much more and has more processing power and memory.

    UAV for Power Line Inspection

How cool would that be? Copter batteries getting low and it automatically seeks out the nearest power lines, hovers over them for a a few minutes and off it goes. :-)

    Stumblin' around the 'Net..

Finding MRF was obviously fate and and meant to be. You are certainly in the right place. Welcome. I'm looking forward to hearing about your adventures.

"Drone" found on White House lawn

This would have been so much better if the copter had actually hit the White House.

XAircraft Super X GPS quit working.

I sure wish we lived close enough so I could swap a GPS puck out for you. But it appears we are about as far apart as two people can get on this planet. Although I'd love to visit New York. I think at this point talking to your dealer for assistance is the only option left. Let us know how you go.

    Drone Deploy

I'm glad you brought this up as I think that I certainly have not appreciated what is going on here either in spite of several very knowledgeable people telling me to have a good look at it. Thanks.

Very Interesting! Linux/APM flight control system!

Linux was never designed as a replacement for home Windoze machines, even though it certainly is possible. So if Windows suits your needs than that is what you should use. Heck, I'm a Unix Sys Admin and I'm typing this using an Apple system (don't tell anyone) although it runs Windoze, OS X and...

Very Interesting! Linux/APM flight control system!

Let's not get him in trouble. While he technically _could_ have flown the plane from Auckland, he didn't. We don't want to push our luck with CASA too far. :-). However, he has promised to do something a bit more from California this March at the Embedded Linux Conf in San Jose. So stay tuned...

Questions for my DJI S900 building

That's a sweet setup. I'm sure you will have a great time shooting with it. I fly a similar setup with 8A 6S for around 12 mins so I think you'll do fine with 12A. But best way is to fly it and find out. I'm a big fan of parachute systems but they are quite new and I don't know anyone who uses...
