I've never used super simple mode but I used simple mode quite a lot when I was first starting out. It worked great and I never had to worry about orientation.

I agree with @jason. Run the motor test routine in Mission Planner to ensure the motors are in the right sequence and turning in the correct direction. Then make sure you have the right props on the right motors.

Building and learning is good. I think it's the best way to go by far. But when you want a no fuss way to shoot, grab the Inspire. But given the cost of the Inspire, you can take that same money and do a whole lot of learning along with having a lot of fun.

Check this out. First flight of an Inspire out of the box. All I did was lighten up the video a bit. Nothing else I own even comes close to the image stability.

What I don't understand about situation like this is that there must be thousands of people openly advertising commercial businesses using multi rotors. How are they getting away with that when even someone like this who is just openly sharing his photos casually is being contacted by the FAA?

Isn't DJI the biggest seller of consumer grade flight controllers right now? Do you really believe that they can be held accountable and are willing to have their processes, procedures and documentation audited? Fat chance is what I say.

I think you have done the best that you can. The problem with over exposure is that there just isn't anything there to work with. I'm actually surprised that this happened as most cameras would under expose such scenes. A polariser filter would have really helped so give that a try if you find...
