Hoverfly 5s and 6s with hfp

The HFP has built in voltage regulators on board. I think the manual says 16.8 volts max which would be between 4s and 5s. I know some have used 6s. The problem is that the excess voltage is disapated as heat. I'm sure Hoverfly doesn't recommend any higher that what's in the manual. I know other...

    Hoverfly FC Comparison

I had ZERO RC experience. None. I couldn't even make a fly able paper airplane. I've been in the aviation industry for 35 years and have always been a photographer. Before aviation, I was a sidelong photographer in NCAA football and a wedding photographer. I've had my eye on all this flying...

    Hoverfly Big X8 Observations.

I'm getting a solid 8 minutes with the X8 using a 5000mah battery. As I add the camera gimbal and camera this weekend, it'll add another 1kg to the weight. I expect it to remain stable in the wind and I expect 6 to 6-1/2 minutes. After I prove this, I expect to upgrade to an 11000 mah battery or...

Hoverfly New Gimbal with my Power options?

Thanks Al. This is perfect and matches what I thought. I couldn't read the attachment but was able to see the page number. So..... I downloaded the new manual and there it was! It's exactly what I thought.

Hoverfly New Gimbal with my Power options?

Hey folks. I've just finished assembling my RustiCWave gimbal and I have to admit, it's pretty nice. I'm using HS-7940 and HS-7945 for the servos and I'm thinking that I want to use a separate BEC for the servo power. I'm planning on using the CC BEC at 6 volts for the servo power and here is my...

    Hoverfly Big X8 Observations.

Kind dumb and boring but it was pretty gusty and I took her out for a flight. Be easy now... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPYU30JIHHo

    Hoverfly Big X8 Observations.

As well... I'd like more from your X8 experience. I've had another X8 that was 36" MTM and it was far more stable than my 20" MTM quad. I'm using the same type arm on this one and just thought I'd take advantage of a few more inches. First flight was beautiful. I have a few gun permit things to...

    Hoverfly Big X8 Observations.

Hey John, I haven't decided on a camera yet. I'm looking towards the Panasonic Lumix type camera to start. I have the Hero2 now but the Rusty's Gimbal I'm fix'n to put together will hold more camera. The Hitec 7940 and 7945 servos I have should handle those pretty nicely. The arms are 5/8...

    Hoverfly Big X8 Observations.

Greetings folks! Thanks to a lot of bad weather, I was able to finish my X8 build. Here are the specs... HFP & GPS 40" MTM. Avroto 2814-11 Turnigy Plush 40a ESC APC 11x47 props Carbon fiber arm tubes Rusty's Frame Quadframe legs. 2.5kg aprox without gimbal 4s 5000 mah External...

    Hoverfly HFPro S-Bus

It's not recommended, but I connect all my Turnigy Plush 40a ESC with the power wire (red) intact on all of them. I think Photronix does as well. I'm thinking electrically, the ESC's should have protection diodes in them already. I've done it both ways with success.

    Hoverfly Lurkers - Slow Forum

I agree with Benjamin. I have a Futaba 8FG super as I had visions of flying aircraft as well. It's a beautiful transmitter but if I had it to do over again, I'd get the T8FG as the throttle doesn't have the clicks, more suitable for fine tune hovering with the multi-rotors.

    Hoverfly Lurkers - Slow Forum

Actually, I don't have any pics yet Benjamin. I'll take some. What I've done, is take a Rusty's frame and incorporated some 40a Turnigy Plush ESC's in the body itself so they won't have to be strapped on the arms. I had to turn them sideways with the flat side towards the arm holders within the...

    Hoverfly Lurkers - Slow Forum

I agree... I probably check 4-5 times a day. I'm in the end game of a particularly tedious build where all the ESC's are in the frame of an X8. Just to the point of resizing the ESC-HFP control lines and hopefully will be flying her within a week. 40" MTM. No news is good news.

Hoverfly Can I program the Turnigy ESC using the HFP?

The crimp connectors I used. Here ya go... This is what I did. I bought butt connectors from The Home Depot like the blue ones in the picture. I actually bought several types of connectors as I has several things in mind. I used my nippers and needle nosed pillars to remove the blue shielding...

Hoverfly Can I program the Turnigy ESC using the HFP?

Thanks for the feedback guys... I'm still at work till 9pm eastern... I'll get home and try to take some pictures to upload. The crimps seem to be working nicely, but then again, I'm still in the building phase.

Hoverfly Can I program the Turnigy ESC using the HFP?

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm in the process of the build and programming them as I make the arms. I'm gonna try the all-at-once programming when I get it all HoverFly'd up. Can't hurt to try I suppose. On another note...... Has anyone tried using the appropriate crimps to the motors instead...

Hoverfly Can I program the Turnigy ESC using the HFP?

Greetings all... After a short little hiatus, I'm off on another build and I have a question. I know you can program the throttle endpoints on the ESC using the HoverFly Pro after you've used the client and properly set the throttle there. Can I also program the ESC's using the throttle and...

    Hoverfly Hoverfly GPS

All this is great news! Just ordered the magnetometer from Sparkfun. I was wondering, would this Mediatech be a better antenna than the stock antenna or are they equivalent? Also, is there a chance the new firmware supports the UBlox LEA-6H?
