What would be your ideal heavy-lift AP machine?

Nice machine! A barometer should be fine as long as it's under a cover such as that one shown and has a piece of open-cell foam over it.

Offset coax - interesting! You missed your mark on the landing ;)

What would be your ideal heavy-lift AP machine?

I don't suppose many people are ever going to try flying in a thunderstorm - but it would surely be useful to be able to tolerate a light shower? We get them quite frequently here in Europe ;). The better DSLR and mirrorless cameras are weather sealed (but not the Red, I gather). Tiger is...

    CarbonCore Cortex....Owners' Thread

What is it about the Cortex than prevents it playing nicely with the A2? Is the Cortex the only frame that can't be used with (arguably) the market-leading FC? One step forward and then two steps backwards ;)

    Interesting Trappy follow-up article

I agree money will be at the root of this foot-dragging behaviour - in some form or other. That's the way the world works. But I can't decide if the daft statements like "US airspace is the busiest in the world" and "US agriculture is more complicated than Japanese" are pompous bluster to cover...

What would be your ideal heavy-lift AP machine?

Some thought-provoking answers coming in - thanks. Lanzar - I'm curious about the NEO Cine. How would you differentiate that particular machine from the others you sell? i.e. for what reasons might you recommend it to an undecided customer? what are its distinct advantages?

A new RC radio system c/w Multirotor menu!!

Looks like a lower-cost unit than the 14SG/8FG - but if Futaba are going in that direction then expect to see firmware updates for other models which add that menu. Not sure of the benefits other than saving the irritation of having a picture of a heli or plane on the display ;)

What would be your ideal heavy-lift AP machine?

Many people here have extensive experience of using the various top-end airframes available, as well as building their own. So, if we assume that none of the currently available machines are 100% ideal, what would be the spec and features of your "dream machine"? Some possible...

This sounds like a worthy topic for a new thread - "What would your ideal AP machine be?" - I'll start one :)

    CarbonCore Cortex....Owners' Thread

He's talking out of his you-know-what about this "partial throttle" thing. Sure there are some issues (as discussed in the linked thread) but he should have speced the ESCs for a "mid-throttle" hover, i.e. around 50% throttle. I'm not totally sure, I might have to google it, but I think that 50%...

    CarbonCore Cortex....Owners' Thread

He's obviously completely clueless about customer relations - acting like he's doing you a favour interacting with you at all - I hate that! And, as Rob says, as a construction technique that sucks big time! There is a common way (even though I don't rate it myself) to fix such a bracing piece...

    We love those provocative headlines?

I agree that diagnostic/troubleshooting skills are often lacking. And I'll add to that something I've observed myself: that the fault is invariably assumed to be in the electronic units "connected", rather than in "the connection" itself. Put another way, there is common "blindness" to wire...

Canon 5D markii - aerial photograhy

You can control the camera remotely using Canon EOS Utility - just hook a USB cable from a computer to the camera and run the software - you get full control of ISO, shutter speed, aperture, focussing, etc and a "liveview" screen. Optionally, each time you take a picture it is downloaded to the...

Canon 5D markii - aerial photograhy

Kloner's talking about video - the principles are a little different: take your desired frame rate, say 25fps - set the shutter for double that, i.e. 1/50th (gives the right "look" to the video) - for a given amount of light, set your aperture to give correct exposure - on a sunny day that may...

Canon 5D markii - aerial photograhy

I wouldn't try using a camera's Liveview for FTP flying - b-i-i-i-i-g delay in there. The Liveview display on most Canon/Nikon DSLRs is not actually video but a stream of JPGs. Don't know if that's changed on latest models with more video capabilities built in. Can you get Liveview through the...
