Pricing - Please stop cutting our own throats.

Only one third of your rate? That's just "stiff competition"! I've been low-balled (on top-end real estate stills) at less than the gasoline would cost me to get to the shoot! Kinda interesting that you brought the musician analogy into the discussion. I know a lot of musicians - they'll do any...

    Massive range problem

I reckon you'll have to do a standard "process of elimination" exercise. Start by taking the receiver off the craft and do a ground range check (just driving a single servo, for example). If that's okay, then put it back on the craft - but with all unnecessary units/wiring removed.... then add...

    Massive range problem

Probably best to show some pictures - particularly the position of your Rx and the Rx antennae. Have you tried a range check on the ground?

does anyone use hot glue or silocone on top of solder connections

You know I'm always sure of what I say, bart ;) "Parallel" doesn't specify the distance between the wires. Parallel and spaced apart is worst - widens the radiated EMI field. Parallel and close/touching is better - keeps the radiated EMI field narrower. Twisted is best - reduces the radiated...

does anyone use hot glue or silocone on top of solder connections

Parallel is actually the worst for power wires - lots of radiated interference. Power wires should be twisted wherever possible - makes the fields "cancel each other out" :)

Pricing - Please stop cutting our own throats.

It's going to take a while for the whole thing to settle. Same as when digital cameras arrived - hell, same as when 35mm compact cameras arrived, I expect. It takes a mature market to have stable prices. Of course I agree that we should avoid a race to the bottom, not leave money on the table...

    Wiring

Yes - that's from Witespy. Don't know if the unit was defective or it was my dodgy servo tester - could be the latter. Never mind. However, I only bought the one because I wanted to try out the undocumented "servo mode" (for gimbal control). Since the experiment came to an abrupt halt, I can't...

    Wiring

I use Andersons wherever I can :) This is an ESC32 I was playing with the other day - Andersons for power and motors :highly_amused: The black shape on top of the blue/orange connectors is a locking piece - guarantees the connector can't come apart in flight. The orange Andersons are soldered...

Drone and rescue chopper nearly collide as drone crashes mount

Incredible! Obviously a brain-dead moron on the sticks.

    Wiring

Sounds like you're willing and ready to do the job properly. Without wishing at all to sound condescending, my advice to you would be first to learn about electricity (resistance, amps, watts, etc.). You are entirely right that this subject is normally "skipped over" - the principal...

    LiPo disposal question

I'm afraid that someone will read advice like "join the + and - terminals together" or "hammer a six inch nail through it" and not realise that either of those actions is potentially lethal if the cells are not sufficiently discharged. That's why I believe the safest action is the bucket of salt...

    LiPo disposal question

Who said salt water is not legit? It's worked for me every time. Just make sure the water is REALLY salty - I dump a small bag of dishwasher salt in a bucketful of water. Leave it in the a good 48 hours.

$15 and more reliable alternative to RSGS/AV200 combo

Brilliant! Just enough stiffness to hold the camera in position - just enough compliance to isolate it from vibes. You might be on to something there!

Product Review ** DJI 1552 Folding Propeller

I've never understood putting dampers under the motors - even though many have reported success with the method, it is fundamentally wrong - kinda like putting WD40 on your car's brakes to stop them squeaking. Newton's thing about "equal and opposite reaction"... if you allow compliance in the...

3 Axis stabilization inside the camera

Actually it's 5-axis :) - http://asia.olympus-imaging.com/products/dslr/em5/feature/04/ The Olympus system moves the sensor to stabilise the image, i.e. it detects movement (in much the same that an FC does) and moves the sensor to compensate. The more normal system with other manufacturers is...

SERVOSTAB - a servo motor with build-in stabilization

My thoughts exactly! Why didn't he direct that energy into a discreet brushless drive? :( And it's not cheap!

Product Review ** DJI 1552 Folding Propeller

Very interesting - thank you! Can you expand a little on the subjective side? How do they sound and feel? - "soft", like Xoars? or "sharp" like Tigers? I'm tempted by the transport convenience factor - I'm happy with my JXFs but easier transport is mighty tempting. Do you think the additional...
