Countersunk Torx: http://www.pts-uk.com/Products/Machine_Screws_TX_Countersunk_Machine_Screws Nice find on those extractors - hope it works. My experience in the past with that kind of tool is "lots of pressure, lots of speed" but YMMV - maybe try on some wood screws into the workbench to get...

    CarbonCore Cortex....Owners' Thread

Good luck getting that out! I'm afraid I don't have any suggestions. But when you succeed, I can suggest replacing them with quality Torx (TX) headed screws (stainless steel, of course). The shape of the head/bit is MUCH better for small sizes - they don't get chewed out like hex heads do...

    CarbonCore Cortex....Owners' Thread

It's not my (meagre) coding skills that prompt me to label this behaviour as a safety issue but rather some interface design knowledge and a dose of common sense. Take a close analogy: a car fitted with an (imaginary) Return To Home system. So you're sitting in your driveway and, explaining the...

Canon 5D markii - aerial photograhy

You can leave autofocus engaged but I prefer to tape down the focus (exactly where depends on focal length), take an appropriate spot reading (blue sky or grass/leaves) and set the camera to full manual, shooting raw and auto-bracketing half- or 2/3 stops both sides. That's one reason I prefer...

    CarbonCore Cortex....Owners' Thread

I have to disagree with you - I would have no expectation that engaging RTH on an aircraft that is stationary on the ground would cause it to take off so that it can land again where it already is! It's completely counter-intuitive and therefore dangerous. And, in coding terms, easily fixed...

    CarbonCore Cortex....Owners' Thread

Is this guy for real? £659 for a full frame kit and he doesn't want to deal with "hobbyists"? And you can't show pictures of it? What planet is he on? Add me to the "never going to shop there" list! Also, this sounds worrying: I'm not familiar with DJI gear (also on my "don't shop there" list)...

    Reasons to fly a Red

Yep - it was the Dragon 6K sensor they tested. It's just a little ahead of the Nikon D800 for colour depth and dynamic range. The D800 is "quite a lot" cheaper, though ;)

    Reasons to fly a Red

Well, here's one more: http://www.dxomark.com/Reviews/RED-Epic-Dragon-review-First-camera-to-break-the-100-point-DxOMark-sensor-score-barrier So, technically, that makes the Red the "best" aerial stills camera around. Who'da thunk it? ;)

Wiring Schema G-Lock BLD 3 axis

I think tombrown's confusion is in the diagram - it shows 1 G-Lock Radian (bottom left) and 2 BLD (BrushLess Driver) modules (top left and bottom right). Each BLD can drive up to two motors, hence the two modules. Each G-Lock Radian can measure/control up to three axes.

Commercial flights deemed legal... Trappy won!

Good site with the entire history of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles: https://sites.google.com/site/uavuni/ It reveals too, the origin of the term "drone". In the 1930s the British had two radio controlled target practice planes called the Queen Bee and the Queen Wasp (after their original one called...

IMHO - I'd leave it. Save up for that Voigtlander - looks like the mutt's whatsits :)

Panasonic 14-42 feather weight lens on GH3

Not all the L lenses are effectively sealed - I have a 28-300L (way too big to fly, of course): it's a push-pull zoom so it vacuums up dust every time you zoom out and then blows it onto the mirror and sensor when you zoom back in :(

Just got an email from AUVSI (Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International): AUVSI represents all the "big boys" in the game.

    GH3 Settings and Practices?

I agree with kloner - sounds like you need to start, literally, from the ground up :) I'm a stills photographer, but the principles are identical. Carry the camera with you all day, every day. Get a light meter (doesn't have to be fancy). Set the camera to manual, take a reading with the...

Panasonic 14-42 feather weight lens on GH3

I'm in Weston-super-Mare (SW from Bristol). Yep - seen the Signal Master and the rest of John's stuff. Very interested. I've already contacted John but I'm not in a hurry - currently still working on mechanical components.
