DJI S800 Product Bulletin - ESC too high temperature

I don't necessarily disagree. I think that I might wait to do the coating until I get everything up and running well. The other issue is that I am somewhat concerned about the coated wires that come out of the Arms. I think that I will coat them even if I don't do the rest of the board.

DJI S800 Product Bulletin - ESC too high temperature

Denny, I agree. The conformal coating is a major impediment to making the repairs needed. I have soldered stuff this small before but the coating takes it to another level. When I posted the video I just wanted to let people know what they were getting themselves in for. I really hope that...

DJI S800 Product Bulletin - ESC too high temperature

Probably a lot. That is why I do not recommend it. I ended up removing all my escs and sent them to DJI for replacement. I can resolder the escs but those 2mm wires are a bugger.

DJI S800 Product Bulletin - ESC too high temperature

If you are thinking about doing the S800 esc mod yourself. Here is a video that I did that shows how to do it. I would recommend that most people just take the esc's out of the arm and send them to DJI or their dealer. That is what I am doing. I am not that confident in my soldering to...

    ESC problem DJI 30A opto

It does happen. Have you check the solder joints to the bullet connectors on the esc. One of them could be bad. However, you may not be able to get it replaced if you muck with it. I would contact your dealer for a warranty replacement.

GoPro for FPV main camera... Pros and Cons?

I have used mine for video recording and for FPV. There is some latency, but not enough that it does not work. I got the pre made cable from ReadyMadeRC.com. Works fine, however, I will say that I like the video from my dedicated video camera. Higher definition, brightness, color saturation...

    kloners TBS Discovery

I sent an email to Trappy to try and include the soldering of the core to the bottom plate. I figured that for $9 or $10 it is a deal and something less that I have to do when it arrives.

DJI S800 Product Bulletin - ESC too high temperature

To desolder the motor leads and the 4 leads from the arm is simple. I use a Dremel Tool wire brush connected to my drill to clean the coating off the leads. The coating is to control moisture, or at least that is what I was told by DJI. It looks like a silicon conformal coating. I got some...

DJI S800 Product Bulletin - ESC too high temperature

I am doing the self repair. After three arms, I am not sure that I would recommend it to anyone. I am ok with the soldering part, but the conformal coating that they used is a PIA. I have had two partial tares of pads because of the adhesion of the coating. It is next to impossible to get...

FPV and Data link (Notebook opinions / suggestions)

You can use data link and osd with a video down link for your FPV. If you are flying under goggles then I think the onscreen osd is important. If you are running a separate video camera then you don't want to connect the GoPro to the vTx as well. It is one or the other. I have used both. I...

So happy now that I know my nuts won't fall off

I still have the original anodized washers that came with my first F450 kit. I may just go back to them. Star washers are cheap and easily replaceable. The nice part about them is that they dig into the plastic on the prop and the soft aluminum of the stock nut.
