    Help Choosing a battery

I'd say for the cheaper motors, best bang for the buck is sunnysky. Little more $ than the dirt cheap ones, but definitely higher quality, and inspires more confidence. Batteries are like motor oil. Everyone has their favorites :). I'd say on the cheaper side, the Nano-tech from hobby king...

    CAA permissions fee

I'm in Vermont now, but I've lived all over. And I see different needs for different areas. I find it a disadvantage to paint all scenarios with one brush. I also didn't state that I was "anti-gun," just that I see the need to try to ensure that people act responsibly, whether it's guns, cars or...

    Help Choosing a battery

You don't mention what price range you're looking for. As I'm sure you've found, there are many options. The lower cost motors I typically suggest (and use) are sunnysky, the higher end would be KDE or T-Motors. And there are many in between. What's the budget?

    Is this a good FC?

The APM line of products is definitely robust, but there is a learning curve. Also, the series has progressed now to the pixhawk - which I believe has some features that may not be available on the older hardware. It really depends on your willingness to research and learn the system. It's...

DJI expands SDK program: Adds Lighbridge support

That's really exciting Kilby! I'm really curious to see what you (and others) come up with. Please keep us updated.

    Help Choosing a battery

Hey Jussi, welcome! Hexa is right, listing the stuff you have already will help us help you. If you are still shopping for components, maybe this will help: 1. Hopefully the motors you choose will provide a data sheet that should list a series of calculations. This should include thrust, amp...

    Best motor

    +1 on the sunnysky motors.

A bunch of stuff now what?

The DJI 450 with Naza lite or M-V2 is probably more simple - but all of them will require you to learn their proprietary setup procedures. The APM format is pretty robust. May be worth taking a look and seeing how you feel with it before buying other products.

A bunch of stuff now what?

Like Bart mentioned, You're definitely going to want to hook this up to mission planner to make sure all your settings are correct. There are a ton of options/choices that you need to make before trying to lift off. And as Bart also mentioned, make sure you check motor/prop direction. APM is...

    Aerial photography...

I used it for a gopro rig. I'm going to be listing it for sale tomorrow when I get home, because I really have too many MRs and I'm moving:). More specifically, I have larger Hex's that I use more often because of more lifting capability. But they are admittedly a PITA, requiring transport in...

    Aerial photography...

Sorry this post went unanswered. Have you chosen a frame? I have a Tarot 680Pro, and while I think it's a strong platform for the gopro, it may not be appropriate for a larger camera.

Micro/Mini FC vs Full Size FC

I don't know these two products specifically, but if you are confident that the components used on both boards are the same, there should be no difference, other than real estate. That said, I did choose a mini version of the multiwii board for a smaller craft, and although I had successfully...

    CAA permissions fee

I'm not totally up on the CAA rules and regulations, but have been following closely the actions and proposed regulations being taken here by the FAA. While possibly frustrating to those of us who consider ourselves responsible and safe pilots, I think it's important to recognize that...

    Hello from Southern Ohio...

I think the pics have to be hosted elsewhere. I could be wrong - but definitely no browse via mobile device. First nice weather of the season this weekend - and of course I'm away!!! :). Hope you get some flying in!

    Multirotor Advice

That's awesome. After replying before, I saw that a few guys were hard at work on a smaller 350 size quad with articulating arms. The thread is here on MRF if you haven't seen it. Exciting times! I don't care what magic you use to achieve it, but if you can get precise altitude readings...

DJI Ronin M Price announced. $1399!!!

Not hard at all. Once the "lets get an informative website going" subcommittee convenes to determine what to have for lunch at the discussions which be a preliminary for the ACTUAL discussions, followed by a review process.... :)

DJI Ronin M Price announced. $1399!!!

The frustration is understandable. It hard to be patient when you know how valuable and safe they can be, but it appears that the powers that be need a few MORE years to figure out what they think. But as you mention, this train is being piloted by the government, so there is nothing BUT slow...
