Camera suggestion

Hello all!

My F550 finally starting to be complete. However, I have run into some problem; The Nikon J3 I have has no infrared port and can not be triggerd remotely (unless I rig up a solenoid to push the trigger button).

So, now I'm looking for alternatives.
The GoPros are out of the question; Too much distortion and a small sensor with limited dynamic range and the resolution is not impressive either.
The Nikon Coolpix A looks appealing (apart from 12 Mpix being somewhat low), but does it have an IR-port?
The Sony NEX series are popular for AP, but I'm not familiar with the Sony cameras.

Any other camera I should bear in mind? It does not have to be an interchangable lens camera. If it has a good and fast wideangle that's all I need.

The Sony Nex series can definitely be trigger by infrared. And they are cheap, if you pick up one of the older models. The common trigger can start both video recording and still photos from a switch on the tx.

Just not sure if an f550 would be able to lift it with a gimbal.

yesterday I wired (literally - took apart to gets access to control buttons) an old Panasonic
similar cameras sold on ebay for $50-100 or even new 20.1MPx SONY CCD (like w830)
