Man, got the addrenaline flowing so hard today i could smell it. it's been a while...... one word explains today, BONER

Called it revenge at daves cause last time i was here was the first time i'd flown around 2.4 radios..... it was a line of sight type of deal. this tie i let r rip, just wish i'd have brought the tracker for the zeph, used 3db crosshairs in diversity on it like i do my quads and 3 miles out over the pacific it was dikin out on me. but still fun. Them fishing boats must have some strong radios on em.

man ! you have balls the size of the moon !

way to go !!

about the numbers .. for us metric dudes.
every 5000 feet is a land mile.
so 15000 feet will be 3 miles = 7.5 km ?
over the ocean ... at 20 feet above sea level .. = 7 meters ...
an i .. correct ?

man .. i take my hat off in respect ...
care to tell details about the geer on that z ?

thank you.

pretty amazing aint it. i'm floored...... i've only had the thing since mid summer, this was probably flight 10. It's a zII with scorpion 3012 1200kv, ICE 75, 9.5x6 prop, hitec servos, eagle tree guardian, osd pro, lawmate 2.4 1 watt vtx with clover and the ground station is a pair of 3db gain crosshair on duo 2400. it usualy cruises 50-60 at 15 amps and it seems like it goes 20-30 minutes it's a long time

all your number translation is correct. 5200 feet is a mile..... 3 feet in a meter ish

that's two freeway offramps away and out to sea. the times not right, but everything else looks in range. Those weird speed blurps are wrong too on the one graph. that sattelite for alt and speed is kinda wobbly. needs pitot tubes and barometers to be perfect. this has the barometer, but no pitot.

After the first test flight of the rebuilt TBS Discovery #2.5 I started doing some practice flights to get used to how fast I could drop altitude and speed for going between the trees flight. It definitely takes some stick time to get used to not only how a particular frame and flight controller setup fly but also the perspective from the FPV camera which for me is the one thing that takes me the longest to get used, how to judge where the multi is relation to objects I'm seeing in the goggles.

This is a series of clips from the other flights I did this past Saturday, just getting some stick time and learning how to judge the distances while trying to not crash it (again!)...

Great flying there, Ken! Looked like no issues going into the trees. Me, I would be emptying my drawers afterwards.

Ken, is that an ama sanctioned field? what do they say about all the fpv? We got a group in one club here getting them used to it, but all the vids, even like yours they tend to push the boundries, usually over or across them at some point. nobody buggin ya about it?

AMA heli only club. The president runs the LHS and also flys multirotors along with some other club members. I'm on the steering comittee which is the members side of the board of directors so nobody is going to bug me about it as long as I'm flying safely. The only time I venture beyond the paved road in the middle to the main flight line is if there is no one else there, as soon as the first heli pilot arrives I stay to the opposite side of the road in the south field and also within the perimeter of the property below 300 feet.

To be honest, sometimes I get more concerned about some of the guys doing crazy 3D with 700 class helis, one of those out of control is capable of generating a lot more carnage than a TBS Discovery...
