KDE Direct has added Multi-Rotor Heli motors to their lineup

I bought the KDE 3520's and just put them on a quad. Running 40amp Plush's with them.

Sorry bout the dumb question, but what are the symptoms of losing sync?

I mostly slow fly so I'm assuming the Plush ESC's should be OK. I've only done 1 quick short flight without load so don't have anything to report.
Running with 6s / 8000 mah lipo.

I ran the 3520 for over 100 flights with no issues, rig was easily tuned.... all i swapped was the motors to high pole count and they went to this whatever they call it.

it also would not tune, wobbliest multi i've ever seen and all i was trying to do was hover in a breeze....

plush in general don't do wind cause the slow switching,,, you'll get toilet bowls in wind, etc.I ran them 6 months on a main rig i flew, got to know there habits. When you want a locked in heli in any wind, get a fast switching one like 400+ hz

Hi Partick, great to see you on here and welcome.

Do you currently have a motor which will fit a TBS Discovery?? I have one with cheap motors and am looking for a nice alternative as this little MR flys soooo nicely!! Since getting the set of 4014 motors for the big ship I'm a believer!!!

Thanks,

Lance

My plush worked famously with my hoverfly pro and 2814's.

Plush and Hoverfly Pro has worked really well for me too. I was in some very turbulent wind on Wednesday and it got me through it. I haven't used Plush with other flight controllers though. I did run across some ESCs that the Hoverfly Pro didn't like - they were some SimonK ESCs that came with a QAV540. There are some combos that just don't work. Maybe KDE is about to simplify and improve things - looking forward to it!

Vortex, not unless you upgrade to a 6s system including 6s esc's, 6s motors like patrick has here and our arm kit..... looks like this

20140208184132-5968f037-la.jpg

mine worked great on 2814's with dji gear, but as soon as i tried tuning for efficiency (lowering the disc loading with big props, low kv motors and 6s) it got really really ugly

Good luck with it, if i was gonna do an "upgrade", i'd prevent a "downgrade" and get patricks esc's if your getting his motors

Vortex,

I can tell you there is several new motors coming very soon for these applications. Go to the KDE website and watch, there is going to be an announcement to the public later tonight with more information.

Here is what's coming:
KDEXF-MR55 (55A+ ESC)

KDEXF-MR35 (35A+ ESC)

KDE3510XF-475 (3510 stator motor, 475Kv, 6S)

KDE3510XF-715 (3510 stator motor, 715Kv, 4S)

KDE2814XF-515 (2814 stator motor, 515Kv, 6S)

KDE2814XF-775 (2814 stator motor, 775Kv, 4S)

Again, go watch the website for the announcement. http://kdedirect.com/

Thanks,
Chris

Kloner, which 6s is that stuff in the backside?

Thanks,

Hey Guys,

We just expanded the KDE Direct XF Multi-Rotor Series lineup, with four (4) new motor sizes for smaller-multirotors than the heavy-lifters we originally targeted. The motors are available for Pre-Sale and current production is on-track for shipping worldwide on 04/30. The new motors are in the 3510mm and 2814mm stator class range, and they incorporate all the technology and tedius production techniques as the bigger brothers, so they are little motors with a high-efficiency and high-performance output for your setups. And before I forget, they are SMOOOOTH...very low cogging torques and CNC balanced. It's definitely not easy to pack this all into smaller-motors, but we achieved it and are proud to release these for you all to enjoy. :)

KDE3510XF-475, 14-Pole, 475Kv (5S-6S Optimal)
KDE3510XF-715, 14-Pole, 715Kv (3S-4S Optimal)
KDE2814XF-515, 14-Pole, 515Kv (5S-6S Optimal)
KDE2814XF-775, 14-Pole, 775Kv (3S-4S Optimal)

All the performance data and specifications are online for those that enjoy all the technical details.

Bartman

Welcome to MultiRotorForums.com!!
the 2814XF-515's will be a nice upgrade option for people flying the 2814-770kv tiger and avroto motors on their medium lift heli's with 4S packs.

770kv at 14.8V means 11,400 rpm max (tiger, avroto, etc.)
515kv at 22.2V gives the same max rpm with the larger packs and with a max amps draw of about 20 with 14" props they should be fine with 30A ESC's.

@Patrick, what does it mean where you say that the motors have three bearings? Is it three bearings in the motor assembly or three ball bearings in each bearing assembly?

regards,
Bart

Hello Bartman,

It's 3 complete bearing set's per-motor. There is the main bearing at the bottom of the motor that you can see under the collar. Then there are 2 more bearings inside the stator at the top of the stator stack underneath the can.

Thanks,
Chris

Patrick,

Love the specs on the new 2814 515kv motors and hope to buy 6 for a hex build I have. What props are you basing the numbers on, t-motor, APC, since I don't see many 14"x4.8 or 13"x4.4 listed for sale. I can find 13"x5.5 and 14"x5.5 (t-motor style) and wondered if those pitch numbers will effect the performance. Just would be interested in knowing which props you guys use for testing so I may look into purchasing them.

Thanks,

John

Welcome to MultiRotorForums.com!!
Patrick,

It would be great, and maybe a first, if there could be some recognition of the fact that most ESC's are tied in place with a small to medium size zip tie across the middle. Some ESC's seem ok with it while some seem to buckle under the stress. Also, componentry located across the middle of the ESC usually gets in the way of a good zip tie placement.

Good luck with the release.

John,
To my knowledge they were using T-motor carbons.
