    Wookong Error?

I went to refresh the firmware and discovered that it was indeed set to a quadcopter. I'm not sure why I didn't catch that before as I did check. Anyway, pretty scary that such a setting can change by itself after two years. Perhaps when I was checking the gains with the Bluetooth (which is now...

    DJI Inspire 1 Pro against GH4 - 4K videos

20Kg is twice the weight of my SkyJib. It's good to hear that the redundancy actually worked for you. As for the twitching, maybe we should all be carrying extra underwear in our kits just for such incidents. :-)

    Wookong Error?

Yes, checking that it was still set to coax octo was one of the first things I did. I also noticed that I couldn’t connect via bluetooth to my phone app anymore. I had to connect to my laptop via a USB cable. I used the bluetooth a few months ago to check the gains so I know it was working at...

    DJI Inspire 1 Pro against GH4 - 4K videos

Excellent point and why I'd like to see an Inspire X8 coax. However, I bet a lot of octo owners don't realise that they don't have the redundancy that they think they do. If your hover rate is over 50%, which many heavy lifters are, then the copter won't be able to maintain flight if one motor...

    Wookong Error?

I took my SkyJib coax octo out for a spin today. Unfortunately when I connected the battery two of the bottom motors were beeping as though they had no connection to them. I armed it anyway and only the top four motors spun up. So tonight I've been testing it on the bench. It really seems to...

DJI Zenmuse XT Thermal Camera: Unlock the Possibilities of Sight

Looks sweet! Now if they would just come up with an X8 Inspire I'd be set for some time.

    DJI Inspire 1 Pro against GH4 - 4K videos

After years getting my SkyJib with Panasonic GH4 (originally had a full frame Nikon on it but much prefer the GH4) ready for commercial flight I'm a bit worried that my Inspire really can do it much better (if I upgrade the X3 camera). The Inspire is just so easy to fly and to transport that...

    Flying with others...tips and peeves

The three clubs I fly at around Canberra all have dedicated areas for both helis and multi rotors. You can only fly in the circuit that the planes are flying in if you can keep up and are willing to fly the pattern that everyone else is. That's the only way to manage the traffic. But it's quite...

Aeronavics / Droidworx SkyJib X4 Crashes Testing Failsafe

Isn't that exactly what he said when we both purchased SimonK flashed ESCs from him a year ago that he now says he no longer uses because there were issues? Sorry, but I wouldn't purchase from anything from them again. Unless, of course he wants to guarantee that a year from now they won't...

Aeronavics / Droidworx SkyJib X4 Crashes Testing Failsafe

If I had it all to do over again I'd go with the T-Motor Opto ESCs. I like the idea of using T-Motors, T-Motor ESCs and T-Motor props. That way everything is matched up with the same company. I couldn't get the T-Motor Opto ESCs when I did my build or I would have used them for sure.

Aeronavics / Droidworx SkyJib X4 Crashes Testing Failsafe

$87! I don't think so. I have HobbyKing Plushy ESCs on my SkyJib and it works fine. I would find it very difficult to justify that cost. Although, when it comes to a SkyJib it's nice to have the best if you can afford it. Did they have any other recommendations? What did they have to say about...

Aeronavics / Droidworx SkyJib X4 Crashes Testing Failsafe

I started googling on this but most of the info is old or just opinions. This info looked reasonable though. Personally I can't see any advantage to SimonK over stock firmware on large octos like ours. Why don't you see what the team at Aeronavics have to say? They obviously see and test a lot...

Need Help Future of Photogrammetry and DJI

I'm in the process of trying out both MapsMadeEasy and DroneDeploy who both make apps for the Inspire so you might check if they work with the A2 as well. I believe that UgCS also now works with DJI.

    Sensefly Ebee

There's no doubt that the Ebee is a good product but I seriously doubt it's capable of doing 250Km2 of mapping. I've been testing mapping using a Volantex Ranger equipped with a Sony NEX 6 controlled with a Pixhawk and other than my poor fixed wing piloting skills it's looking very promising...

I am disappointed in one of our own members for his neglegent decision to fly over freeways.

Doesn't sound like it from what the article states. Appears to be a horrible horrible accident. But there are lots of people flying quadcopters around children all the time. Some time ago I remember seeing a video of a guy who would land his octocopter by having his daughter (who looked about...

    Pixhawk left roll

OK, now I remember. I had the same thing happen. I took the SD card out of the Pixhawk and put it in my computer to check it. There was nothing on it. I think at some point they sped up the frequency of the logging and the cards that ship with the Pixhawk can't keep up. Anyway, mine was...

    Pixhawk left roll

Can you describe how you are trying to access the logs? It sounds like you might be trying to use the terminal connection which is a bit tricky. It's much easier to use the tab located underneath the Heads Up Display. Have a look at the wiki instructions for accessing the Data Flash logs. Using...

    Pixhawk left roll

An issue I have had with the Pixhawk is that when changing firmware you aren't actually resetting the parameters to the defaults as they are held in a different part of memory. I think you need to ensure that you are starting with totally default values. I can remember one time when i upgraded...

    Drones for Delivering Packages....

Drone drops package in to drone chute on top of house that only opens to drone's signal. If house doesn't have new drone chute capability it drops it down the chimney. Except on Christmas day.
