    Help Wanted

I don't want to side track the thread but it's not the birds so much as what they are used for. For the last 10 years it's been about surveillance of people and places with a lot of direct or indirect killing. There's some really great aircraft, outstanding technology, but a lot of mental...

What is the difference between x8 and regular 8?

I prefer the X-8 config as well but not having the extensive experience Kloner and some of the others that opinion doesn't hold a lot of weight. Definitely more stable in the wind and can be heavier without as much size as a flat. The X-8 does make its share of wind for sure. The efficiency...

    Multicopter motor maintenance?

I'd been wondering why so many had made suggestions to oil motors with pre-lubed/sealed bearings before use. Glad I never did it.

FAA Cancels Model Aircraft Standards Of Operations

Totally agree and hopefully the AMA will see where one of their positions may be in error. Some multirotor professionals will need to lower their noses a little too. Hopefully we can converse with the AMA to gain more influence. The hard part will be getting the AMA staff to back away from...

Not so sure about that. Always seems I know less today than I did yesterday. For certain I know less than I did when I was 15.

Not all. The smaller stuff used up in Alaska does not. Some have only a mode C altitude encoding transponder which will trigger an ADS-B response in a full scale. OTH, a few <55lbs do have full ADS-B capability.

    Some Tough Aerial Competition!

The bird is considered a raptor, as such has been federally protected for a long time, and its presence demands the rotor flyer grant it sanctity of the sky.

FAA Cancels Model Aircraft Standards Of Operations

It states the FAA interpretation of their own "advisory" had been made law by decree. Perhaps those that fly for fun might recognize the need to band together with those that fly for hire. All are now at serious risk.

The AMA filed suit against the FAA, which likely prompted an FAA retaliatory action. People in power cannot tolerate being challenged at any level, and a lawsuit against the FAA by a non profit organization just might expose a level of ineptitude that will be even less favorably tolerated. For...

    What is wrong with Kopterworx....???????

Don't know anything from the end of the shipper but I do understand export issues and how they can tie up a shipment. It's possible some regulatory requirements have changed or a mistake was made in export documentation. In the case of changed regulations it takes time to correct and resubmit...

You're not alone at all. I'm a 3d GS fixed wing flyer but there are things in even that I won't do. The 3d heli guys take everything far. far beyond any level of safety. I will not attend one of their meets and normally get behind something when one comes to a field I'm using. A couple great...

If not for the cinema experience you'd have my resume'. What the heck, I should send it anyway and see where things fall. It would be nice to leave the military type machines behind.

First and foremost, the 333 notice is not law, and courts have already established that. What is law is that commercial aviation operations are regulated under the FAR's. OTH, RC models are not regulated, again substantiated by the courts, so commercial aerial modeling activity fell within...

    Align M690

That's kind of a big deal. I had to fly a rotor back to launch point two weeks ago with only 7 of 8 motors functioning. Had that not been possible the end result would have been disaster instead of a basic parts replacement job. The price of that gimbal sounds pretty good.

Good start but those fail to mention numerous other sub sections of the FAR's, which are daunting in how much they cover. The rule of law is already in place, it only lacks amending to permit or deny what we do or qualify who does what, with what, and how.

There are several, but I was referring to the new Drone Pilot's thing that I can't see helping much of anyone the way it's laid out. Mostly just a gathering of names. It appears the manufacturers have already formed their own working group. There is something currently forming intended to...
