Another Stupid Response from the FAA

72 hours w/o "probable cause" or a charge. How could I know? Actually, my kid's an ADA.

Another Stupid Response from the FAA

It;s called total control. All they have to do is convince you they have it, even if they do not. That's where the confusing FAA edicts come into play. Most cops don't have a clue but if someone told them it was illegal they will arrest and confiscate first to worry about anything else later...

What is the difference between airframes?

Rob Sent you an e-mail last night. Should you elect to pursue the contact you might a bit more info on the subject;)

Everything I have from 3DR sucks...

Rob, I've had issues with cloned hardware and software for a very long time. Even open source stuff should have some level of copy protection to prevent those not involved in the development from turning a profit on the work of others that receive nothing for their efforts. In RC, EVERY gas...

    XAircraft Interpreting Black Box Data

Here's a tip, a coax with quad style countering corners is most efficient if all the motors are canted a couple degrees clockwise. The upper props send a cone through the lower props, leaving the lowers to generate higher wattages when everything is at a 90. The balancing act does not work if...

Autocar admits to commercial flying while unlicensed

What rules? Sorry, was thinking U.S. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Everything I have from 3DR sucks...

Indeed we do. BTW, I moved to APM/Pixhawk for some of the reasons you mentioned/ There are capabilities for mission specific tasks the others just can't come close to. Although others were first in some areas, they are a long ways behind in others.

Everything I have from 3DR sucks...

jdennings, I truly support your position with #3. Some of the DIY forums get pretty thin in the response department, some do pretty well. It's kind of hit and miss with some of it, and I feel for those that go to the source and get ignored. If you're going to host a forum, be there for the...

Everything I have from 3DR sucks...

FYI, I work with a military sUAS that uses a sophisticated auto pilot and flight control system. Software upgrades are common. The upgrade process for any flight control system is a mandatory requirement unless it was perfect the first time and no added features are ever desired. One only...

What is the difference between airframes?

Chuck has it together in how he's been laying out history, needs, and requirements. Probably most would never need frames much larger than a 650mm or 700mm if they never intended to gravitate to large heavy payloads. It's really amazing how much versatility an MR in the 700 size really is...

    New Drone

The pricing structure has to be massively under estimated if using a ball turret. The whole thing can't be any more than a 3d Robotics Iris+ with a lot of fluff added to make it look "manly".

    Representation for Commercial sUAS

You name a good contact group but I believe it's much more expansive than that. There are many that have yet to realize that what they have been doing for a long time is about to be classified as a commercial aviation activity.

Dawolf, There was a period where the support at 3dR had fallen quite low but that issue was recognized and appears to be on a positive track of improvement. That's what I've experienced anyway, and saw the bad with a massive change to the good after some initial issues. That 3dR responds to...

    Representation for Commercial sUAS

Filmfly, Here's where I'm at. By definition I'm not a professional in aerial film making, although that's where I'm headed and only the road taken is left to be determined. OTH, after close to 45 years flying RC I'm not technically an amateur either. Let's say I elected to charge someone for...

FAA Cancels Model Aircraft Standards Of Operations

I believe there are people working in the direction you mentioned. It's probably more a matter of getting all the necessary plans together that could be causing a delay. I don't believe the AMA would serve our interested well even though they share many of the same risks we do. A better...

Everything I have from 3DR sucks...

The earlier GPS units are quite sensitive to EMI radiated from power lines. I had quite a few pre-arm failures until I started moving farther away from power lines before trying to initialize everything. One thing 3dR does I've seen before is in their documentation. It's an engineering...

Everything I have from 3DR sucks...

Although SolidSalad starts out with a pretty negative first post he does have a point relative to the performance to the earlier 3dR GPS equipment. I have one like that too and it has made for some pretty frustrating days. OTH, should he do just a tiny bit more research he would find that 3dR...
