    R&D Hex for Survey/Imaging/Conservation

These are reasonable: https://aerialpixels.com/shop/uncategorized/quick-release-prop-adapter/ I didn't realize the U5 was such a monster. 900g thrust at 50% with a 15" prop! You'd be over powered at that point :)

The three blade option gives you more thrust/lift, but you give up some efficiency. If you are also going for long flight times, that's something to consider.

    hi all.....nervous newbie!!

Welcome aboard lakin! I think you'll find most of the folks here are quite gentle - and there's tons of info to be had. Feel free to ask questions and have a look around. I'd also recommend getting a cheap quad to learn on. Something like a blade nano QX, ominous or a hubsan. They will give...

    R&D Hex for Survey/Imaging/Conservation

I don't want to give you a heart attack by suggesting more spending, but.... If you are concerned with transport - I've found that the quick change adapters used with the 3-hole style props was a huge advantage. Not only does it make it easier to move around, but it also ensures you don't nick...

    R&D Hex for Survey/Imaging/Conservation

You may be right. But it's confusing with them throwing in the mention of 50% as recommended - that throws me a bit. How would you know it's 50%??? It seems it would make more sense to state what the rig would handle and then allow you to tailor the payload to fit what it says it has in...

    R&D Hex for Survey/Imaging/Conservation

I ended up giving up on the CP... all together really. :( I have another gimbal I will still mess with - but ultimately, it did not play nice at all with 3 gimbals I tried. I now believe the CP wants HEAVY to be happy. I put it on a DYS with a Canon camera and it got better values than it...

    R&D Hex for Survey/Imaging/Conservation

That reads to me that the payload is not to be entered in the top section, and that the calculation should show you what the additional payload (gimbal???) would be. But that also seems that it would make the throttle percentage completely off if you were not using the payload capacity. Not...

    R&D Hex for Survey/Imaging/Conservation

It's been a while since I used ecalc - but are you including the weight of the gimbal in the AUW? In the past - pretty sure I only listed the AUW of the craft - then the program spits out the payload capacity - which would be where your gimbal is included.

I think I opened that can of worms. The Quadframe quad I have definitely can fit more than the stated size prop. But the hex cuts off more space with the angles.

Then you should be all set.

If you got them here in he states - I'm sure P will exchange them. EDIT: that is, as long as your "goofing around" hasn't mucked them all up! :)

I couldn't really understand the wording of that last post, so I figured I'd check :)

Have you built the frame yet???

1" between props should be fine. If you get more than 1/2" flex you have way bigger issues :). Just make sure you check the center plates too. The rotating landing gear issue is definitely with the Phobotic. The AM has been successfully integrated. I have some KDE motors here for testing. I...

Gimbals & Encoders 2nd half 2015 Have we Arrived?

I personally didn't read JFRO's post as lacking in appreciation or perspective, especially considering he is getting good footage currently. Expecting the decrease in price is natural. When you mention "last decades," in that same period of time a hard drive for recording audio has gone from...

Gimbals & Encoders 2nd half 2015 Have we Arrived?

For which? There are videos for the H6. The H3 is still in design phase I believe. They mention it "coming soon," but they have not listed prices etc. that one retail site seemed to jump the gun.

Gimbals & Encoders 2nd half 2015 Have we Arrived?

With the H3, don't think that's going to happen for a few months. Estimated ship date is July - and you know how estimations can go! :) There are some H6 videos floating around. But it just started shipping. So not too many "out in the wild" as it were.

Naza vs Naza lite - performance

Eskil is right on. There are some other features on firmware too - holdovers from the days when all ESCs used for designed for airplanes. SimonK or MR specific ESCs would not have these options checked in the firmware. The 700 vs 1520 is the center point of the PWM. Typical ESCs are about...

Gimbals & Encoders 2nd half 2015 Have we Arrived?

That cross-bar may end up adding to the weight, I assume the currently stated weight is for the design shown in the photo. But for aerial we would deduct the weight of the cross-bar and handles, no? Also, the weight of the quick release mechanism and the mating block that attaches to the gimbal...
