Mistletoe drone launched at TGIF - UK

Well, the CAA are very aware of this so will be interesting to see what happens. I suspect it is pure ignorance by TGI's management rather than anything will full. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Horrendous flight time!!

It looks like you have a goosed cell hence the probs. if you can't get all 3 to 4.2v on the charger then best to bin the battery and get a new one I reckon Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Horrendous flight time!!

I think you would benefit hugely from reading this. Your lipos are the heart of your machine so worth spending some time learning about them. Ben has given you an excellent starting point and hopefully the link will start to bring you up to speed.

Flying a GH-4, would you go for a DJI S900 or a well built Skyjib 6?

Dom, you have answered your own questions here. If you need to travel and want to keep under the 7kg limit then you shouldn't even be considering the Skyjib. The Skyjib is without doubt a nicer frame than the S900 but what does it do for the business over the 900? Simple, nothing. You will get...

    Lipo charging on the go

Leisure batteries are good but dont necessarily last long unless you have a massive bank of them. I have a set in my van which is great for charging between locations or if filming is happening between flights and they need a quiet set. Forget using car or the motor's batteries as they are not...

Aeronavics / Droidworx Proposed SkyJib X4 Build

Just put my details into ECalc and it reckons I will hover at 260A at 20kg. I have telemetry on my current and in reality I draw approx 160-180A in the hover. Not sure how accurate ECalc is but in my experience it has always been way off.

Aeronavics / Droidworx Proposed SkyJib X4 Build

Its a coax octo using Tiger 18x6.1 KDE 5215 435kvs with 75A ESCs (just realised a typo- I originally said 400kv but they are of course 435kv Doh!)

Aeronavics / Droidworx Proposed SkyJib X4 Build

Moving from 75A ESCs from 55A ESCs will not affect your flight time. Not sure what Ecalc is telling you. In the real world, at 20KGs with 5215 435s and 75A ESCs am getting just under 10 mins using 16Ah batteries if that helps.

Aeronavics / Droidworx Proposed SkyJib X4 Build

If you will be flying at 20kgs with that setup, the motors will be pushing those ESCs. I know the specs say that the 18 inch props and the 55A ESCs should be good but I base this on the advice I got from Patrick at KDE. You need to be safe when flying that amount of dollars so I would go with...

    Suggestions on Heavy Lift build

My Skyjib with U7s has worked a treat- cant see why the Skyjib wouldn't be up to it- my rig is a V1 though but I have built V2s and they are more than man enough.

Lightbridge and 2 man set up

There are two options I guess: First is to move to a 5.8GHz control system for the pilot. Not sure what options you have here but in theory this would work nicely. You could use other frequencies too but 5.8 might be the easier one to source Second is to accept that both the pilot and the...

    Suggestions on Heavy Lift build

Yup, you can get a very good Red lifter easily under 20kg without scrimping on safety. 30kgs is mahoosive.

    Suggestions on Heavy Lift build

If you are investing this amount then you should start analyzing your needs first: What load- okay you have that one done ie about 5kg for a Red with lens follow focus and power What stabilization system- how heavy is this? Is endurance a key point or stability (eg flying in winds) as this will...

Aeronavics / Droidworx skyjib 8 with A2.. Need Manual mode flying tips..!

Best way to describe the three modes based on your cyclic stick (pitch and roll). In GPS this stick acts as a speed demand stick and nothing else ie the further you push it the faster the aircraft will fly. In this mode the FC works out the angle it needs to fly at in order to maintain the...

    Zenmuse GH4 Owners thread

The battery simply isnt a problem as it will give you a full days shooting pretty much. As for the SD card, yup that is a pain but you only have to half slide out the camera to get to the card without the need to unplug the cables. Once you get used to it, it really isn't much of a problem at...

Aeronavics / Droidworx flying Skyjib 8 in -20 temperature...

Do what ever you can to keep your lipos warm. Only put them on the aircraft at last safe moment so they remain warm. Once flying the current draw will keep the batteries warm. Also, look at your FC's documentation- DJI FCs are cleared down to -5 only so you may want to find ways of mitigating this.
