    BNUC-s vs. RPQ-s?

You don't pay for updates unless you need lots of them. They should give you a very detailed response on the first return and if you apply all their comments, some of which can be highly pedantic but humour them, and you should get it nailed without too much bother. Take your time over the first...

    Preferred video editing software

Adobe Premiere seems to be the industry standard pretty much. Some still use the likes of Avid and Final Cut but I guess the only way to work it out is to try if you can or read up on it and then choose your poison!

DHL launches first commercial drone 'parcelcopter' delivery service....

It was on Radio 4 this morning that Amazon are hoping to start trials in Cambridge for the delivery service. Not sure when or how as I am not sure the CAA are even in a position to give the thumbs up. What it does prove though is that they are genuinely pretty serious about this. There are...

    BNUC-s vs. RPQ-s?

If you wish to stay within the bounds of articles 166 and 167 then the CAOSC does not affect your ops at all nor do you need to write one. Of course you still need a full blown Ops Manual! The only exception to 166 and 167 is that it currently states that ALL aircraft regardless of mass must...

Does Zenmuse REQUIRE a DJI flight controller?

I tried putting a whole Wookong, MC, GPS, IMU etc onto the gimbal and flying it (the purpose being to avoid all electrical contact from gimbal to flight controller for safety reasons, not that the zen setup is unsafe at all, I was just playing so to speak) and whist the gimbal worked as soon as...

You guys that follow the camera world. When is the new GH-? Coming out?

You are in for a bit of a wait I suspect. The GH4 is only 6 months old or there abouts.

    S1000 flyaway and crash

2.2 had the airport restrictions inadvertently turned on. They then issued an update without telling anyone to begin with and then this was made official by calling it 2.3. All of the A2 incidents I dealt with either had 2.1 or 2.3 on so I cant say much about 2.2- it was only downloadable for...

    S1000 flyaway and crash

Can you post a copy of the log here as some of us can have a look too. With DJI you are unlikely to get much of a response (apart from via Tahoe Ed). Please dont post all of the logs but the one from the flight please. Thanks.

    Caa in-20141/181

The first In you link to is in effect just re-iterating what was always the case. Submitting and ENSF application always required 21 days 'officially' however, much like the CAA, they are as helpful as they can be and can often process requests in much quicker times. Word of warning though...

    S1000 flyaway and crash

This is very typical of the A2 faults that were numerous a while back. Seems to be a rarer occurrence now so I think it might have been a batch thing. How old is your A2 and what firmware did it ship with?

DJI has released the latest A2 firmware v2.4

I find the fence thing curious. Given that the A2 is aimed at the more experienced pilot, why on earth would you not want your aircraft moving into the area you are in? It just seems like a pointless step to take when coming back into land ie having to turn it off. Curious to hear if people...

    Wire size question

Use the wires that comes with the motors. As for other wires, I tend to use 12AWG from the power distribution board to the ESCs and 10AWG from the batteries to the power distribution board (especially if only using one battery which I wouldn't recommend- use two). This might be overkill...

    FC / RX Redundancy

I think one of the reason this happened are the Maxamp batteries. Their 11Ah batteries may say that their C rating is 40C or whatever it is but in actual fact they are more like 4C and thus they can have trouble powering larger rigs. How do I know this is the case? When I first bought my Skyjib...

Strange Tendering Tactics By English Media Company...

Fair one about the budget constraints and you being in Ireland. Yeah, the email thing by EuroUSC was a bit of slip up.

    CAA Information Notice Confusion

Basically the safety case is to be completed once per year for anything you want to do outside of standard permissions. So for someone over 7KG that means anyone wanting to work in a congested area for example. For sub 7 it is for someone who wants to work at distances less than the usual 50m...

Strange Tendering Tactics By English Media Company...

I got the email too but am not fussed in the slightest- he wants some work to be done and that cant be a bad thing. Admittedly because of what he is after, I am not interested but he is at least not telling me I have £1m locked in some African account awaiting my claim or some random person...

XAircraft Super X and Jeti Hicopter esc

I think it is to do with how endpoints are dealt with. I could be way off here but the SuperX may well be tuned to deal with Futaba endpoints ie 1.1 to 1.9 ms pulse width whilst Jeti does the whole hog ie 1.0 to 2.0 ms. If this is the case then the Jeti ESCs are simply not seeing the throttle at...

CAA Congested Area Operational Safety Case for SUB 7KG and over 7KG

Well, if your current permission says that you can fly in a congested area then that still holds until renewal. I guess the question is, will that remain when you next renew? I will try and get an answer from the CAA this week.

CAA Congested Area Operational Safety Case for SUB 7KG and over 7KG

The CAA have released the details of the safety case required to work in congested areas. Unless I have missed it, and quite possible given my day, it seems that this applies to all weight categories including sub 7kg. Notice can be found here.
