My first quad - DJI Flame Wheel F450 FPV build

Try putting your camera on cut foam ear plugs, that's probably the cheapest way to reduce or eliminate jello in your shots. You can use the rubber bands to secure the camera down, just be careful those aren't too tight or too loose, it'll take some playing around to get it dialed in but it works...

    Help choose 5.8 fpv

While that is possible with a cheap transmitter what you would due is put a filter on your transmitter which would filter those harmonics out. You are going to run into harmonics no matter what you do and going to UHF and running 1.3Ghz is no different as 433Mhz will produce harmonics on 1299Mhz...

    Help choose 5.8 fpv

There's a few rules when it comes to frequencies and I'll keep it simple. The lower the frequency the better the penetration through obstacles, the higher the frequency is the exact opposite. The lower the frequency the slower data will be send, the higher the frequency and you get the opposite...

Flying safety. oath to not fly over people!

I'd say unless everyone being flown over is aware you are flying over them and of the dangers and is willing to sign off on a legal contract waving all responsibility and damages I'd say avoid it. It's not worth it anyway and whenever I see people on YouTube or whatever flying over people I ask...

Need some help selecting a propeller and need to know where to get them...

Peter, yes you can however I don't know their size yet but when I determine what size they are I'll probably buy them here. Next time one of them fails I'm going to pull the bearings out and measure them with my calipers. The NTM motors either come perfectly fine and last forever, until you...

Need some help selecting a propeller and need to know where to get them...

The Y6 is redundant but ONLY if the remaining motor is powerful enough to carry the load. You have a flying battle tank there, a good test would be to unplug one of those motors and see if it'll even lift off the ground at all and that will give you your answer. Make sure it doesn't just tip...

Need some help selecting a propeller and need to know where to get them...

Dewster, very good info thanks. I'm glad you put what motor you are using too. I'm going to eventually upgrade from these Turnigy NTM 750Kv motors. They are excellent motors for the money they just have horrible bearings so it's somewhat hit and miss on them. I keep the husks of the dead ones I...

Looking for a good but cheapER Y6 frame... Any advice? What's the best Y6?

What made you go to a smaller prop? Motors getting hot? Does it fly better now? How about your flight times, better or worse? Thanks!

Power Distrubtion board, the age old question.... What's everyone using?

That works too, just makes it hard to replace an ESC like you said and to add a CAP :) The HobbyKing PDB's are SUPER cheap so I ordered a bunch of them and if I need to do another one I can. It took me about 30 minutes to do one from start to finish so it wasn't too bad plus I love doing stuff...

Need some help selecting a propeller and need to know where to get them...

Interesting, yeah I guess you're right. Glad you were able to work around the loss of efficiency. So it was noticeably different after you went to 12" on the bottom? I guess the slightly deeper pitch on the bottom probably helps too. Did it increase your flight times? What about flight...

Power Distrubtion board, the age old question.... What's everyone using?

Dewster, did you try your setup with and without a capacitor? If so, where there any noticeable differences? I'm using 12 gauge stranded wire, which is pretty thick stuff, but the leads are around 12" long to the ESCs. I have 18A motors but I never really pull that much, more like 13A and only...

DJI F550 UHF and Naza GPS

Interesting and good to know, I'm going to hold off on the EzUHF for a while until I hear people using it with the 8FG without any issues. I really don't need it right now as I don't like to fly further than a mile anyway because it would probably take me 12 minutes to run that far LOL... Thanks...

DJI F550 UHF and Naza GPS

Chris, I believe there is a known bug with the EzUHF system and several of the NEW Futaba radios. I know for sure there is a known bug with EzUHF and the Futaba 8FG and they have a Beta fix out for it right now. I'm assuming that the internals to the 8FG are probably the same or similar to the...

DJI F550 UHF and Naza GPS

What are we looking at here Chris? So you'll need 2 receivers? I'm kind-of guessing but it looks like you have a standard receiver there hooked into a UHF transmitter that would then transmit to your receiver on your model? Is that right? What's the difference between hooking the UHF unit...

DJI F550 UHF and Naza GPS

As always Kloner you have all the answers :) I guess it's because you've used them all and have 50 models :) I haven't upgraded to EzUHF yet but I do intend to once I get my long rang Zephyr built. I'm happy with my 8FG (yes that's what I ended up with) and FAAST, I can easily go a mile without...

DJI F550 UHF and Naza GPS

Yes it does work and many people already use this setup. I found the GPS module here, see below, for $169.99 which isn't bad. Adding the GPS module made a HUGE difference and I wouldn't fly without it now. For UHF you need to use EzUHF as I hear the others are buggy and I believe most people on...

Need some help selecting a propeller and need to know where to get them...

Good information thanks. I wasn't sure how I was going to approach it. I may do the same thing, the only thing that bothers me is that it looks weird. Have you considered just going to 12x6 on top and bottom? That's what I was thinking about doing but I'm going to give it a shot with theses...

Need some help selecting a propeller and need to know where to get them...

For anyone looking for the 12" carbon fiber Graupner style props I finally found some and here they are...they are 12x6 though so be careful that you can spin that large of a prop with such a deep pitch. If anyone has ordered from this company or these props let me know what you think of either...

Looking for a good but cheapER Y6 frame... Any advice? What's the best Y6?

Looks like it flies pretty well. What props are you using? I have 750Kv NTM motors with 11x5 RCTimer carbon fiber Graupner rip-offs on mine and they are SUPERB in every way. No complaints yet...haven't got to fly her FPV yet though. Hoping to do so in the next couple weeks.
