Longest Range, Longest Flight Life, Highest Def

Yes, long flight times mean you need large slow-turning motors and huge props for sure. These machines are "floaters" though too, so you need to understand the trade-offs. They don't handle very well, say in a wind etc.

    Sony A6300 Camera Discussion

Hi Gary, I had pull the camera out and check lol. I'm shooting XAVCs 4k 24p . I haven't tried the higher rates at all in 4k as this looks stunning. I have been getting deep into the modifying Picture Profiles for flatter gama etc. I'm really liking something I came up with by modifying...

    Tarot T810 Build

I'm short on time right now but here's what I did for duo/single I got two Taranis radios and a module TX that plugs into the back. Taranis is 16 channel so I route the first 8 to the internal TX and then 9-16 to the external module. I bind the internal TX to the copter and the external to the...

    Sony A6300 Camera Discussion

I'm almost always in 4k mode (cuz why not) and I know it won't do it in that mode. Pretty sure it won't in 1080 either. But honestly the 4k video is so sharp you can just grab frames out of it anyway. Good enough for anything used in magazine or web size prints etc.

    What defines commercial?

Stick around guys. It's people like you that can build this forum into what you describe. As mentioned, there is no hope for any of the other forums that are completely overrun with the P4 / GoPro crowd. Nathan and the guys could reach out to companies online/email and invite them on board...

    What defines commercial?

Very good post. I have a pro machine (or two) have well over 100 hours stick time over the course of 3 years... STILL have a long ways to go!

Longest Range, Longest Flight Life, Highest Def

For long flight times Foxtech is hard to beat. Their https://www.foxtechfpv.com/d130-x8-v2-a2-6s.html Will do 50 minutes flight time and carry almost anything. I'd get it without flight controller and use a Pixhawk / FixHawk

    Sony A6300 Camera Discussion

Yes, ultimately you'll want both. You'll love the 18-105 for now though, it's a wonderful "all-round" lens. :) Lets us know how you like it after a few days of getting used to it.

    Sony A6300 Camera Discussion

It's a tough call Gary, They are both quite sharp with the 18-105 MAYBE having a slight edge. If you're going for gimbal use, even hand-held, I might lean towards the 10-18 as it would be a rare occurrence that you would want narrow FOV / zoomed in / on a gimbal.

    Sony A6300 Camera Discussion

Guys, the biggest mistake people make in photography is buying lenses with less resolution than the camera. In this case we have perhaps the highest resolution sensor on the consumer market.. Even higher than the a7rii. If we were to scale up the a6300 sensor to full frame it would be 58 (ish)...

    Sony A6300 Camera Discussion

Hi Gary, First it's really good to see you! Yes, I feel the same about the a6300, my favorite camera to date and I have Canon 5D with L Series glass. The 6300 was intended as an aerial camera purchase but now I've decided to dump Canon altogether. OK Lenses: I've spent my way into some...

Got a used Tarot 810. Starting the rebuild process.

Hi Chalagi, I got those at the automotive parts store (Lordco here in Vancouver). They are reflective stickers that you see on the sides of semi truck trailers and such. They help quite a bit but I have been planning to add lights at some point as well.

Got a used Tarot 810. Starting the rebuild process.

Oh one important heads up; The folding booms are threaded into the aluminum sockets and supposed to be factory glued so they don't twist... but the glue tends to fail. So, once leveled, we owners tend to drill a small hole and put a set screw in so the booms can't rotate in their socket. You...

Got a used Tarot 810. Starting the rebuild process.

Thanks for the kind words PhotoJ. It's been a 3 year long project with at least two complete rebuilds to refine things to this stage. For battery, yes I think you should be looking at 6s for sure. Then I'd recommend using two batteries as opposed to one big one. Two will give you the ability...

Got a used Tarot 810. Starting the rebuild process.

Hi PhotoJ, Sorry it took a few days to get this done.. Real life always in the way of the fun stuff! Anyway here are a bunch of pics of my 810. You've probably noticed by now that space is at a premium on these machines, due to the fact you can't mount any electronics between the plates. My...

Mods, this could also be a good topic for the pro forum. I'm thinking the more active topics over there the more likely to attract and retain professional users ;)
