I attended this event yesterday..... more of a regional thing...... however..... we had participants from McGill University, Germany etc.
would have been good for CMROA exposure.... maybe next time.

There is one optimum and fast way to balance motors.
1) It requires polar coordinate graphing to quickly and accurately determine the exact position where weight needs to be added.
2) It also tells you precisely how much weight to be added one time only.
3) A PC oscilliscope program can...
You also mention Turnigy...... are your talking about the Multistar ESCs? I ordered up 8 of the Turnigy Multistar 45 Amp Multi-rotor Brushless ESC 2-6S..... in part because I have had such great success with the 30A versions with smaller motors, i.e., 130 flights to date with no issues. Ofcourse...
I configured my new A2 exactly as per my previous WKM which followed the previous NAZA configuration and all works 100% (keeping in mind that I do not use retract landing gear).
This is how I did it...... Part 1 then Part 2

The 3 modes are called Manual, Attitude and GPS........ bearing in mind that GPS includes the Attitude functions.
What do you mean by "does not hold as well"?
Are you talking about maintaining a constant altitude?
Or are you talking about it holding a GPS position c/w altitude?
How many GPS...
Its a basic laws of physics thing........ gravitational force is x feet per sec squared...
so there is a corresponding, nearly exponential, cost curve required to stay ahead of the extra payload weight.
Every extra 100 grams will cost you at least one minute of air time. Getting rid of the...
I tend to agree with you..... based on personal experience with many successful flight with the NAZA as well as the WKM and soon the A2. The issues I did run in to were due to F550 modifications when larger motors/props were not properly balanced..... initially I though the NAZA control system...
Which RCTimer props are you referring to..... there are various types.....
Incidentally...... when using eCalc for Multirotors and working with custom components such as the thin carbon fiber paddle props, you need to adjust the P.Const factor on the last line down from 1.3 closer to 1.0.
All...
Make sure that the Assistant is first configured to show the correct battery voltage level, i.e., 3S 4S or 5S.... otherwise the symptoms you describe can occur. If configured correctly then check to ensure all battery cells are functioning.
HobbyKing's socalled US/Canada warehouse is just a US warehouse trying to distribute to most of North America. That is an archaic old school concept from the last millennium. But because the USA warehouse has a strict policy on using UPS exclusively, it is not rational for Canadians to purchase...
Start with Attitude flight..... never take off in GPS mode....... Manual mode is a fast way to wreck your MR initially........
Attitude is tame mode...... Manual can be a tiger by the tail unless you have a lot of prior flying experience.
I have 8 brand new Turnigy Multistar 30A OPTO 2S-4S ESCs to sell...... wrong size for my new project.
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__27776__Turnigy_Multistar_30_Amp_Multi_rotor_Brushless_ESC_2_4S_OPTO_.html
I will sell all 8 for $80 c/w shipping included anywhere in North...
I have the GCS with single waypoint but have been too busy with the de facto primary use of MRs which remains aerial photo and video which requires FPV..... so not much room or weight left on the MR for GCS xmitter.
Also I was scared away from GCS by the demo/training mode which completely...
Kloner or anyone.....
I just realized you state that the Maytech ESCs don't work well with the pancake motors and I am stuck for now using these 420KV 22 pole Turnigy pancake style motors.......
Seems I have to go with a cheaper 35 to 45 amp Plush 6S or Turnigy Multistar 6S 45 amp rated ESCs...
Kloner,
Where are you buying your Maytec ESCs...... I have been looking at the following MT40A-OPTO-HS-MK located at: http://www.maytech.cn/eng/prolist.asp?protype=108&product=Brushless%20ESC%20for%20RC%20Hobby%20from%20Maytech
Yes..... we hear a lot of that sort of negativity in the MR world right now with respect to FAA rules, regulations, insurance etc.
But once you get to the other side of the fence with the paperwork, insurance etc. you will begin to see it all differently assuming you are still able to make a...
