Hello Guys,

i have a Skyjib 8 and the Av200 360deg with the skyline, currently running the V1.2.2 but i've been waiting for so long for the software update. because many issues were promised to be fixed in the coming release.
is there a way i can download and test the beta for V1.5 i see some of you have already achieved very impressive results !!!!

Me too on the beta!!! Any idea on the actual release projected date?

Hi Guys and Happy New Year!

Realy looking forward to getting back to work; we are officialy back at it on the 7 January which is tomorrow for us here in NZ. We will release the v1.5 firmware if there are no issues being reported. We will check feedback from our beta testers and then it should be good to go. If there are any tweaks requiered we will make the changes and release the firmware.

Photohigher wishes you all a happy New Year and wish you all the best!

Cheers

Hi John, I've attached a schematic for the v1.0 hardware which should help. Brendon.

Hello everyone,

I am unable to connect my RSGS to the Skyline Software (latest version 2.2). I bought the RSGS somewhere in October and it is the post September version (new harness and dummy potentiometers).

When I try to connect to it I get the following error message "Failed to connect to Skyline" although the COM port is connected ("Com port connected / Skyline Disconnected"). I am using the correct COM port and the USB cable is properly connected to the PAN Input.

I made countless attempts to update the firmware by properly powering the RSGS after pressing the "Update Firmware" button. The RSGS initializes when I power it up as if no data cable is connected to it (starts by blinking red, then it stays orange for a while, then it blink orange and finally it remains green). All my attempts ended up with the "No response" error message.

I have followed the instructions to the letter. Tried it on both Win 7 and Win 8. Tried it with different voltages: 5V, 5.5V and 6V. No matter how I power it, directly or indirectly (through a RX), through any servo cable (including PAN servo cable), the result is the same.

I've searched all forums and seen several other people complaining about the same issue but couldn't find any solution. The only thing I haven't tested it to power it up using 6.5V because I do not have such an UBEC.

Can anyone please help me troubleshot it? I am completely out of ideas.

Thank you,
Paul

Hi Paul,

If it starts blinking red - orange - blinking orange - green. Then there is old firmware on the skyline. (1.1.6 or earlier)

Are you able to run a firmware update through your software? Try this:

Connect to the com port and ignore the failed to connect to skyline message.

Click Update Firmware.

Plug in power to your skyline.

Cheers,
Brendon

I have built a diy mount for the rsgs for my DW VM-6. I tested it last night and it looks good. I had insufficient ground clearance under the stock mount so I built another today (detailed here -http://www.multirotorforums.com/showthread.php?6766-Pete-s-VM-6-Hexa-build-blog&p=83309&viewfull=1#post83309.

WTF!!!!!

I am having SERIOUS problems with my RSGS. I can level it & in the software I just watch the roll degrees climb higher & higher, yet the gimbal tray is horizontal..its already snapped 2 leads out of my receiver!
It is becomming a major pain & to be honest these things should NOT be happening, it caused a massive arguement between my cam op & myself this morning.

PHOTOHIGHER what do recomend....please answer & don't ignore me on this one, thank you

Hi Ross,

What hardware version is your skyline?

If you restore to defaults and don't change any other settings does the same thing happen?

What rate is the roll increasing? Does the tilt increase too?

I think you are missing a step... You need to center your servos!
Lossen the tilt and roll servos get the gear and the belt so they do NOT control anything.
I di one at a time ... Now start the skyline.. Go to the gain screen and move the gains ( usually minus) on which ever servo you are working with
until it STOPS!!!! that is center Make sure it stays there. Do the other servo.. same thing.

NOW slide the servo back onto the roll gear and when THEY connect make sure it is level.
NOW level your tilt tray and then slide your tilt servo up until the belt is tight.

Now go thru set up.. you should be allot closer..

FWIW, I took mine out for some APV work over the Christmas holiday using the 1.5 beta firmware only to find it wouldn't hold a level horizon on slow pans done by rotating the entire Cinestar vs. using a pan setup on the gimbal. After three unsuccessful sessions at different locations I came back to the house, reloaded the firmware without keeping the settings and went through the entire setup procedure again to make sure it wasn't anything I did. First test flight, same result, did the entire procedure AGAIN, this time doing a manual as opposed to autotune and on the first test flight same result. I posted the video unlisted to Youtube and sent the link to Brendon asking for his opinion back before New Years and haven't had a reply as of yet. I didn't have this problem on 1.2 firmware or if I did it wasn't nearly as evident since I don't see it happening in other videos I recorded with 1.2 so I can only assume its either the 1.5 firmware or some parameter that needs to be tweaked that didn't need adjustment on the old firmware but I have no idea which, nor do I have the spare time to tinker with it to try and figure it out on my own. I can assure you the mechanical part of the setup is flawless, right down to having balanced the camera paltform with the Nex5 on it and the tilt belt and roll gear disconnected so I could make absolutely certain the platform with camera mounted was balanced in both axis.

Only assumption I can make is there is an issue in the 1.5 firmware that affects the V1.0 RSGS I have, it may or may not be a problem with later versions of the hardware since this one is all that I have there's no way for me to tell and P/H isn't answering...

How can continuos servos (as supplied witht he AV200) have a centre if the pot has been taken out & replaced with 2 x 2.2K resistors???????

I didnt have problems apart from horizon slanting in the pan with 1.2.2 but I'm trying 1.5 & the thing is worse than useless. Sometimes it will sit there just fine, then turn off my transmitter & back on again & the thing creeps worse than a hobbyking gyro!!!! In fact gyros would be far easier & far more reliable to be honest.
