I like that! Very nice follow thru by Ken.

Now, let's see some posts about how the new upgrage is working. I, like others, am sitting on the fence, happy with the old firmware but if there is a better performance with the gps, I'm all about that.
Also very anxious to see, if the performance of larger acft is improved with the new firmware, how will it affect the hobby sized?

I understand you can remove the software and reinstall if you have assistant and firmware saved, but it would make more sense to be able to have different assistants and firmware loaded on one computer without the hassle of uninstalling and reinstalling is what I meant. Instead of the updates automatically updating your current version or versions.

I just finished building my hexa on a Rusty's frame, MTM distance of 31" so closed to their S800 size. Did a test flight with previous firmware and there were some twitchyness in ATTI mode. So I loaded the new firmware this morning and flew her, she flies perfect! I think they did something in this firmware to make it more suitable for larger airframe. Like others said, ATTI->GPS transition is seamless.

Just found an email in my inbox from DJI @ 6:08 AM that had this to say...

Dear Sir,

We made correction to the firmware 5.04 you downloaded last night; please go to our website and re-do the upgrade to 5.06.

Our apology for the inconvenience that might have caused you.

Sincerely,

DJI-Marketing

Ken

Whatever the error.....there is something to be said for jumping on it and correcting it so quickly, though.

@dolby I'm giving a chance (to read: leverage) to DJI to come clean with this matter so you can hear it directly from them. Actually this message was meant for DJI to read. Sorry that i had to make it in public.

don't tell me that dji are hiding the fact that all wkm units sold are in fact part tiny parts of one big wookong hive mind, ready to hover together at the flick of their switch, thus causing a massive cold draft in the western world.

good job i don't ever have my pair connected to lipos at the same time

Ummmm......its just a flight control system for Multi Rotors. There really isn't any hidden agenda and some really take this a little to far. But...hey...who am I....to each their own I always like to say.

I personally like the new firmware. It did widen the gain range way up. It did fix the transition from Atti to GPS etc..

See for us, we been working with DJI since the XP 3.1 Heli autopilots and the same holds true. They are a great company that is always improving its products. Look at how the XP 3.1 has evolved into the Ace One ( one of the best Heli autopilots out there). Now look at the WKM and in less than a year the improvements to it. A year from now it will have only gotten better and the other product lines will so also. Wink wink....I love beta testing new DJI stuff. :)

I'm sure there are a lot of happy customers out there. I don't readily buy into conspiracies. I also know that if you want continued success you don't cause panic amongst your customers. Now I'm certain if the company hid a fatal error and caused thousand dollar aircrafts to fall from the sky that it would be considered a conspiracy. :) now about that Wookong hive: http://youtu.be/lNJSVhntTGs ;)

Haha, I remember those Heli days, if WKM will have the same calibration and setup then we will hear more complain lol. I am curious and interested too in what this is all about but DJI is DJI, they just changed the whole multirotor market. I am not a big fan but I like my WKM.

If you have something maybe you can just say it and we will see if most guys will concur. You are helping others if this is potentially dangerous or just hot air

Has anyone tested the new firmware with SKYJIB 8 or another heavy-lifter ?? need some input on the gains..

Thanx

I installed the new firmware on my Droidworx Y6HL and it flies really well in gusty conditions. I didn't make any changes to my gains and I was pretty happy with its performance before the new firmware, but it definitely is more stable now in wind. Also a friend of mine installed it on his UAVFrame hex and he saw a significant reduction in twitchiness.

I still have not had the amazing results from my WKM since I bought it. It may be my location or the rust from flygin at the beach. But seriously, why cant I get mine to stop jittering, oscillating and toilet bowling? I have personally seen 2 WKM setups that fly amazingly well so I am ok believing its just me. But when someone spends thousands on a heli they expect better results than this.

I want to know about the guys who went with zero on their Z settings. I feel like I have got as accurate as I will ever get. I have tried zero. I have tried setting the slider for both gains. I have tried moving the battery location twice. now with the new firmware I really notice a bad yaw twitch more than anything. It does it in conjunction with throttle but also does it randomly on its own just hovering.

Vislaw, we gotta go out and fly soon! I think my biggest problem is tuning my heli in an area with metal buildings around. i need a new cop free park.

I noticed some yaw twitch and yaw drifting appeared after updating my CS6 to new fw. Also noticed gains needs to be lowered a lot from what they were earlier. I actually never got cinestar really oscillating with earlier versions, even if basic gains were over 300. Now 220 was way too much and there was huge jitter in gimbal.

Good to know. Were you able to solve the Yaw glitch? It is horrible. I have tried a range from 150-350 and nothing seems to be solid. I have also played with the basics between 50-100 and the lower number seems better but still I would not be able to sell anything coming from the camera the way it flies. My Xaircraft controlled this thing much better! There has to be an answer.
