3DR Iris+... My experience so far

I did similar with a quad from 3DR over a year ago and wiped the RTF programming. Once you start blindly working through the Set Up Wizard you wipe the programming and set up previously installed by 3DR that had it good to go when you got it. If people caught the part in the printed...

Help on selecting a FPV / OSD system for Iris +

The Minum OSD and vTx package that 3DR packages with their stuff works pretty good. I did have an issue with one of the 200mW vTx but they replaced that very quickly and for the past year or so things have worked fine. The output wire for a Go Pro does not seem to have much impact on a Tarot...

The FAA Says You Can't Post Drone Videos on YouTube

From a purely personal perspective the FAA does not have the authority to prevent anyone from posting videos anywhere. Nor does anyone else since it's a Constitutional issue. If it's not oriented around national security or restricted/secret level information the government has no cause to...

    Drones Illegal in Austin, TX

"(C) The operator of an aircraft in the corporate limits of the city shall deliver the operator's airman's certificate and the aircraft's certificate of air worthiness to a police officer or airport official on demand." That's going to end up a fight in a federal court. An airman does not have...

LiPo cell failure midflight destroys my F450. Some questions.

Just make sure you have all your fails ages and Geo fences set before executing an automated flight. You'll do just fine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Super Heavy Lift x8 multicopter

I think the last post put a quick end to code accountability. BTW, there are quite a few military grade systems that start out using open code. That's how they maintain the capability to modify the code to tailor fit the application and make improvements. However, they do try to lock it up...

DJI F550 unexpected control and crash!

You've just been initiated into the DJI "flyaway" club. It typically occurs when operating in a flight mode slaved to GPS. The typical salvation is to switch to a manual or attitude flight mode. A lesson is here related to learning to fly in non GPS flight modes. Loss of GPS leaves you at...

f550 locked in failsafe mode after Tx switch replacement

Go back and look at the switch to see if there's any solder traces that may be shorting out the switch. Perhaps obtain another switch in case the one you installed was defective out of the box. If none of that resolves it may be time to take some screen shots of all the settings in the...

f550 locked in failsafe mode after Tx switch replacement

It might well be a switch recognition thing as mentioned by Tstrike. Doesn't make sense but in today's software environments anything's possible.

    which transmitter rx?

Ain't no such thing as "bind and fly" with a multirotor. Not that I've seen anyway. There's always a bunch of set up work after the connections are made. A DX7 isn't all that hard to get set up though.

    3DR Pixhawk and Taranis

The upside is you're getting a new FC. Lots of time and work in the first one but if it was DJI it would taking a trip back to China for assessment, repair, and return. a very long time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    3DR Pixhawk and Taranis

I'll look up their number after work today. They have excellent support. Try both their Contact us and Support e-mail addresses. The site does provide a phone number, use the San Diego one, that does get answered. Their production facility is located in Tijuana, Mexico, which is also where...

    3DR Pixhawk and Taranis

Have you called 3DR about this already or just guessing? If GotHeli is selling the 3DR Pixhawk they would be an authorized dealer and 3DR would support them. However, if GotHeli was importing Pixhawk units from China I would have no problem understanding why 3DR would not provide support. My...

    Super Heavy Lift x8 multicopter

For the most part I agree with you but there's a couple of issues that bar complete agreement. One is providing extensive info to people that reside in countries with severe restrictions regarding the use of such technology. Another is is unloading massive amounts of information to people that...

DroneEbooks.com : Ebook My First Drone

I was a little "in your face" with the request for qualifications but if you hadn't already noticed this isn't a multirotor beginner's site and we don't put a lot of stock in the box to videographer in the time it takes to charge the batteries "professionals". Most that hang here can even fly...
