Discussion ADS-B Transceiver, Drone Collision Avoidance

I don't believe the ADS-B requirements currently differentiate between manned and unmanned aircraft. At this time I believe sUAS is included in the "all aircraft" mention. Another issue arises with the use of any transponder. Testing performed in the Pacific Northwest established that...

Motors starting on their own-Bluetooth headset causing it?

I'd be going to a different kind of headset. One lacking BT but equally handy. Quality aviation stuff works great. Not cheap, but reliable.

    Starting my flight manual

I have a tendency to over write. You might be falling into the same trap. Most of the above have but three possible actions; RTH/RTB, land immediately, and terminate flight ops. The last one is sort of hopeless unless you could still send a motor stop command, which is most unlikely. Perhaps...

Research examining control station design standards

Your survey has nothing to do with designing a control station. It appears to be more of a questionnaire to obtain information in order to generate more restrictive training and certification standards, while poorly differentiating between qualifications relevant to separate between line of...

    News BIG BIG Drone

Ours is bigger;) Seems odd they claim 100kG lift capability but put it on foam floats and fly from water for the test flights. Oh, the background music does suck.

Discussion Poll. Preferred lighting standard for part 107 aircraft

It will take all of about 3 minutes to get used to standard position lighting;) Nice thing about it is once you've seen one you've seen them all and establishing orientations of other aircraft relative to your own is ultra simple when lighting is standardized.

We are looking for members opinions

I like the layout of the old forum a little better, partly because the subjects were broken out a little better. I haven't seen this site listed in Tapatalk yet, although it may be there. I do access sites from my phone so being able to go into one direct without opening another web browser is...

    New Product Landing Pads

After seeing a number of posts from people researching multirotor landing pads I became curious as to how many people might be interested in a pad that could be ordered in different sizes, be extremely rigid, and ultra light. The pad would help prevent debris fouling of motors and gimbals, keep...

Discussion Poll. Preferred lighting standard for part 107 aircraft

For MR's, an anti collision light has more useful functionality than position lights, although once you've put some time in night flying you find the position lights to be critical to orientation. I love night flying and won't fly in darkness without FAA/maritime type position lights. Where an...

Discussion Poll. Preferred lighting standard for part 107 aircraft

Too easy. The number of letters in the color word sort of aligns with the number of letters in left and right, port and starboard. Red, left, and port are the shortest words. Same side.

    Yuneec Typhoon H vibrations

The Typhoon H has one of the best camera gimbals for the price range available so you vibrations are unusual. That 30 days and a number of flights passed before the issue became evident is a little odd, but not unusual and I'll get back to that in a moment. A question I have relates to why the...

Anyone still fly MULTIROTOR? AP SHIP? NOT DRONE!

Media conditioning. Reporters are lazy. Less column space is used up with drone instead of Multirotor.

Is this a bit over the top ?

There will be times when killing the motors for a free fall will be necessary , although those well practiced with their aircraft could power drive their craft to the ground faster.

    Tarot FY650 yaw problem

If you have one, prolly the easiest to set up and trouble shoot with is a Vector.

    Tarot FY650 yaw problem

It's hard to fault the 810 frame. Add just a little silicone at the clamps and any potential vibration/joint flex is eliminated before it has a chance to start. If you want something smaller just cut the outboard ends of the tubes back.

Wind Performance — Coax vs. Flat

Only up to a point. That disc area gets large enough you can't obtain enough from the braking to save the day. Google FLARES Multirotor.

Try getting a good set "loading" that cheap bipod. Tried that and accuracy suffered until stepping up.

Wind Performance — Coax vs. Flat

Disc area hammers on a flat anything, The more disc area the more susceptible it is to wind displacement. A well designed X8 can shut down the top or bottom motors during high wind conditions and still remain about 65%-70% functional.

Can't, labor rates too high, environmental and other regulations too restrictive, payroll taxes are exorbitant, work comp and disability are cost killers. Toss in self employment and inventory taxes and you're done.

Problem with props slipping when applying full throttle

Use a prop adaptor that uses through bolts. Any mount that functions via simple compression is prone to slippage. Happens with RC plane props too and why multi bolt hubs were created.
