The birth of a new MikroKopter

OK, first thing, the mount is one of these with some modifications... http://www.averticalview.com/stabilized_full_size.html It's a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be, I had it built with the intention of putting it on the Hoverfly quad but it won't fit under the flexlander gear the...

The birth of a new MikroKopter

Today was Christmas in March when the postman arrived... Originally I was going to build an MK quad for FPV but then I fell into a deal for the Pulso 2814-22 motors, those will wind up on the Droidworx frame turning that MK into a heavy lifter, That leaves me with the current Robbe Roxxy...

Things I learned at the field today

First trip back to the flying field since the first of the year due to it being snowed in and overrun by snowmobiles, felt good to be out and flying again. The weather was a bit iffy when I was packing up the truck so I only took the Hexa and Silver bullet and grabbed the toolbox with all the...

    Alternative Motors for BL-CTRL 1.2?

One, buy a spare or two to go along with whatever you need for replacements, likely a similar cost to just buying a complete new set assuming its a quad. Two, refurbish them yourself, source the correct size bearings from Boca bearings and replace as necessary to keep the current ones...

    Sudden Reversed Nick and Roll

I've seen and experienced a lot of Mk weirdness, but this is a new one to me. What is the radio setup you're using, TX and RX? As for firmware updates, there is no published procedure for doing a full update that I'm aware of and that really doesn't surprise me given the state of Mk...

    Alternative Motors for BL-CTRL 1.2?

It appears that motor is still available from Germany https://www.mikrocontroller.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=443&language=en If you want to look into Pulso email Jim at Monto directly @ info@montorc.com, that has always worked for me. That said, there are no good...

Seller Warning!! - NextGen RC.. Dont go there!

I won't make any judgements but I will say this. Personal attacks as in forum member to forum member is one sure way to take things down to a level that just makes me not want to participate and does nothing to improve the quality of a thread, my personal opinion is that type of posting should...

    LiPo chargers

The standard is 1 amp per 1000 mAh of pack capacity, or 1C. If a pack is 2000 mAh then a 1C charge is 2 amps. Most packs today can withstand a 2C charge no problem, so that would be 4 amps for that 2000 mAh pack. When you buy a pack it should say on it somewhere how many C is the maximum charge...

Futaba DM8 Module with AR7000 problem?

Could be a couple things, one being RFI from something it was too close to, or shielding if it's a carbon fiber frame. I had problems with an AR 7000 on a Gaui 330X that oddly went away when I changed to an AR 600, never did come up with a good explanation why the 600 worked where the 7000 had...

    XAircraft X650 build thread

Beware of using locktite near plastic props! Locktite attacks plastic and seems to have a special affinity for the material most props are made of, there's numerous accounts of folks locktiting the prop spinners on the Gaui 330X quads and having the prop hubs split in two on the very next...

    LiPo chargers

I like my Hyperion 615 I Duo 3, I can sync charge pairs of matched packs as though they are one big pack, works great for the Droidworx and Hoverfly which both fly on pairs of packs. Downside is the Hyperions tend to be a bit pricey but you can find deals if you shop the net with a good search...

OSD for FPV on a Mikrokopter?

My next build is a dedicated FPV quad and after having a taste of OSD with the Hoverfly I want to have a true full featured OSD on the new quad. The base of the build will be MK electronics so I'm looking for recommendations for the best system to use, preferably one that doesn't take up too...

Is there a multicopters anonymous I can join?

OK, I have to admit, I'm an addict and I need help ;) I just sold one of my big gasser heli's and turned around and did an alacarte order of enough Mikrokopter bits to assemble my idea of the ultimate FPV quad. Of course it has to have full GPS navigation capability so I can sit back and let...

    Gone fly'n

SIGH... well the day did NOT go as planned. This morning I decided that getting an inspection sticker (MOT for those of you in the UK) on my GMC 4 x 4 should be the first order of business as the one that it had was due to expire Monday. Once inside the inspection bay the mechanic went through...

Community build project - LotusRC Quad

Well it certainly looks like any chance of this happening is pretty much gone, we're not on the "official testers list" and here's the latest from LotusRC... "Time to finish the final testers list. I am inviting some listed testers to help me to find out the last suitable guys via discussing...

    Gone fly'n

Well not quite yet, it's dark out at the moment, but I'm getting ready to go...;) For the first time this year the road into the flying field is plowed and it looks like the weather will cooperate for at least part of the day tomorrow so I'm taking the Droidworx Hexa, Hoverfly quad, the...

    Protecting satellite wires

Actually you won't lose a channel. Bind the DX7 satellite to the TX using the DX8 main RX and you'll get the full 8 channels when attached to the MK F/C board. At least it works that way with my JR 11X, I bound the DX7 satellites using the 11X RX and I get all 11 channels on the MK when hooked...

    Anti Vibration mount

I use the antivibration foam made for wrapping receivers in RC airplanes under the GoPro when I put it on the Hoverfly quad. The HiSight mount isn't tall enough to use the GoPro case so it has to ride naked on the platform. A layer of the white foam wrap under the GoPro with a velcro battery...

    Protecting satellite wires

Spektrum diversity board, you can have up to 4 receivers online and if the primary fails the board will swap to the next RX with the strongest signal. You can see some info here... https://www.mikrokopter.us/shop/index.php?route=product/product&path=35&product_id=187 and there's a whole thread...

    Anti Vibration mount

No, but I have tried the blue Align gel pad material used for mounting gyros and other vibration sensitive devices on RC Heli's, didn't help the Vixia at all. This material is roughly 5mm thick as well and is a reuseable adhesive surface on either side of a soft rubbery silicon gel type...
