    AverticalView camera mount

Yesterday I did the first test flight of the Averticalview camera mount on the new Hexa, I'm impressed with the results so far. Here's the raw video from a short test flight in the backyard, mount and GoPro were all hard mounted so there's a fair amount of vibration which is to be expected at...

The birth of a new MikroKopter

Yes, still think the Graupners are the best prop for a multi. Yeah, I could go bigger, BUT... they don't make Graupners in 12 inch reverse pitch and I'm not certain I could fit a 12 inch prop on the AD-6 without swapping the arms and that wouldn't be cheap. There's at least an inch of space...

The birth of a new MikroKopter

I got a chance to do a couple timed flights today while the rain stopped for a bit, set the timer on the TX for 6 minutes and flew until it signaled 10 seconds remaining then landed and unplugged. First flight early this AM with 11 x 5 Graupner props, I put back 2600 mAh in each of the 2S 5000...

The birth of a new MikroKopter

Raining, we're done with snow for this winter it appears...:) Actually it was a case of I needed parts that hadn't arrived yet to go any further on both of the MK's, a box arrived in the mail and I made a trip to the LHS today and was able to make more progress. The heavy lift Droidworx is...

The birth of a new MikroKopter

It Lives! The new MK just had it's maiden flight out front by street light :D Just the basics right now, no camera mount, no electronics beyond the basic flight controller and populated PDB. I've got a few brackets and things to make for the camera mount before mounting it for flight, and I...

Mikrokopter: Basic GPS, Altitude Hold, use

Yes, using standard A/H you need to give it throttle to hold it against the ceiling, otherwise it will hunt up and down depending on how much of a breeze there is. Also correct that if you don't add some throttle when engaging C/H it will drop a bit as it begins to move. If I'm using standard...

    'WHICH' AP Cameras

There's an easy answer if you want to be able to see where the camera is pointing and there is no live video out, just mount one of the small FPV CCD cameras to the platform and use that. No the view won't be exactly the same as through the lens, but close enough that with a little practice...

The birth of a new MikroKopter

I think the same way I do it on the Hoverfly quad which is built on an MK frame, you can see where they sit in this pic. Should actually have more room since the landing gear won't get in the way as the flexlander tends to do with this setup. The packs are velcro'd to the bottom center plate on...

Things I learned at the field today

I recently found another reason to go along with this, to be able to see if any of the magic smoke is escaping... Ken

    'WHICH' AP Cameras

I'm actually quite happy with the 12MP Canon SX 200 I'm using with CHDK intervalometer. With a 4 GB SD memory card and the interval set to as quick as 2 seconds I can shoot continuously for an entire flight and won't even come close to filling the card. Afterward I just pick the shots I want and...

    Latest Info on Photohigher mounts

I think it's a big improvement over the mkTR mount although I think the mkTR had better vibration isolation but much poorer tilt and roll compensation. I'm still working on finding the best settings with the AV 130, been tough getting flight time with all the snow we had this winter. See my post...

    A day at the field

No Flyboard, just standard Mk electronics with a few add-ons like a Spektrum diversity board and I2C isolation board on the Droidworx MK, and just box stock Mk electronics in the new build which may eventually also get a diversity board when they're available again. Ken

The birth of a new MikroKopter

Pics of the progress Some shots of what I've managed to get done so far... A comparison between the Roxxy kit motor and the Pulso 2814-22, a little more beef to the Pulso, should give the AD-6 a little more carrying capacity I think! The Roxxy on the AD-6 The Pulso mounted up...

    A day at the field

Put them up on a site like Photobucket and then use the IMG code link in the post. We did have snow right up to the end of last week when it got warm and it all seemed to disappear nearly overnight. A week prior and there would have been 2 feet of snow covering the field and snowmobiles...

The birth of a new MikroKopter

Progress is being made, the Hoverfly quad has been diassembled and rebuilt into its new home along with a firmware update from the folks @ Hoverfly. Haven't had much chance to test it other than a couple passes back and forth out front, it's been very windy here for going on 3 days now, not good...

    A day at the field

On Saturday I got to spend some time at the flying field with the Droidworx MK AD-6. There wasn't much of a breeze at the house but by the time I got to the field a fairly strong wind had come up making for poor stabilty on the camera platform so I only did one flight with the GoPro onboard, the...

    Did some FPV yesterday...

Way to go! I find flying the Hexa FPV to be a lot less stressful than flying the Hoverfly through FPV, there's something reassuring about knowing you can click on A/H and position hold and the MK will just sit there and wait for you to catch up, plus there's the ability to click into come home...

The birth of a new MikroKopter

According to the shipping info on the package they're in Redmond Oregon, only took 2 days from tracking info to receipt of the package all the way to the east coast of the US. It took another day or two for the package from MK US to arrive and it's the same distance. They don't have the...
