    Need an acronym

Use of the word "drone" brings immediate connotations of a missile firing remote control aircarft flying the skies of Afghanistan. In reality a drone is a target. I agree with the officer. If you have to have something that implies remotely piloted use RPV for remotely piloted vehicle. If...

I wonder just how much of this regulatory boondoggle is due to a lack of comprehension of what it is they intend to regulate? Based on the waiver requirements the FAA is still trying to regulate airplanes of much larger dimensions that what we use. It appears they are not making much...

Just for future comparative reference, have you ever seen what's involved in filing a document to export a product under ITAR regulations? Proprietary or not the documentation has to list a complete description of the product or component. Dimensions, voltage in/out, horsepower, metallurgy...

Incredible HLQ project! (Gasoline Powered Quad!)

A Zenoah will last forever if cared for half way decent. The engines on the quad look to be Chinese copies of a 3w or MVVS. Most all of the copied designs significantly changed the internal layout of the cylinders to save money on production costs during the sand casting process. The change...

    Air Ambulance Service via Multirotor!

You really don't know how bad your medical condition is until the lawyer speaks up... I tend to agree the number of medical cases this kind of activity would ever be involved in would likely be very small but it's a great way to leverage a politician into looking favorably on multirotors...

Naw, that ain't big. I've seen one almost as large as a small pick up truck. Mega lift capacity but real hard to keep stable.

Not what we need in the news

Using one of the transmitter failsafe functions could work as an effective trigger. Loss of signal through loss of power to the motors could function as an auto trigger. Setting up the failsafe programming would be a bit interesting.

I was bouncing around on a search today and found a couple things that might prove useful if the need arises. The first is an FAA listing of all the test centers in the U.S. I'd call any of them that fit your locale before driving out there. https://www.faa.gov/pilots/testing/ Second is a...

Oh, ya'll should understand the grand scheme is to go in requesting the minimum requirements we can get away with but be prepared to counter if we get handed the maximum,

It is indeed. Fake suicide vest anyway:) I spent a lot of time in different "sand boxes" and came across that particular picture in Iraq. I've been using it as an avatar at another site for years and figured might as well just use it everywhere I like to frequent.

FYI, I bought my first plane in 1990 for less than $13K. Today's heavy lifters with a gimbal cost more than that. A medical runs around $100.00. There are 3 ways to pass the PP written test. Buy the books for about $40.00 or so and study, study, study until you feel ready to take the test...

Good, feedback, harsh or soft it doesn't matter, it's feed back. That was exactly what I was trying to elicit. I wrote the proposal without any input from anyone. At the time everyone was complaining but nobody was presenting alternatives. For the most part, they still aren't. This is what...

In all its glory, the following was presented to the FAA for consideration in July of this year. My flame suit is on, all three of them. I have to post in 2 parts since the total exceeds maximum character count. Background Current and pre-existing Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)...
