    What FC

Everyone "levels" their motors to match a horizontal plane. In a standard quad, hex, or octo config with all the motors on the same level that's the way things should be. OTH, in a coaxial config having all the motors on a horizontal plane is counter productive because the upper prop blows a...

    What FC

Kloner, Something that has been seen with really large X-8's is some dynamic instability that occurs due to propeller "coning" effects. Some will scoff and say there's no proof but graphing out the wattage between motor/propeller pairs that are horizontally "level" with each other and those...

    Horrendous flight time!!

Actually those diminishing returns can occur almost immediately. Depending on the weight of the aircraft and how much power was initially required to hover it's easy to spend a few hundred dollars for a dual battery install and only gain a couple of minutes of flight time. Often, less equals...

    What FC

The X-Aircraft is a pretty good controller. More or less the same as the Wookong IMO and well worth putting to work. If you don't need lots way points for autonomous flight and multiple other things beyond a basic controller it's a good investment, plus you generally have reasonably good...

    What FC

If connected direct, yes it would be, but to connect via a step down BEC makes that a non issue. There's just too much versatility available with Pixhawk to view stepping down FC input voltage to be a problem. You also have virtually unlimited flexibility in PID adjustments, rate of climb...

    What FC

I'll favor the Pixhawk just about every time I need maximum reliability and flexibility.

    Horrendous flight time!!

One cell is well below voltage so I agree with Carapau in that you have a defective battery. Time to replace it with another. Hopefully you'll take the following constructively. Your flight controller is the brain running your system, but just like a human body the brain needs a heart to...

    8s Battery supplier?

Expensive, but MaxAmps in Washington will do 8s batteries. Might want to give them a call to see if they'll make something up with lower C ratings than their usual. We just don't need 100C+ batteries. Ary, Like your Vulcan frame build but you might want to consider lifting the GPS up above...

    Representation for Commercial sUAS

That's one of the problems with the FAR's. Many, many of them are open to interpretation, which frequently differs between people on various sides of the activity in question. Law is supposed to be literal, which the basis of many FAR's are far outside of. Anytime someone can be taken to...

    Amazon looking for multirotor operators

There has been some interest but some corporate giants did not see the profitability as high enough to make a change from the more common military platforms attractive. Only very recently have some started viewing our more traditional activities of cinematography, aerial mapping, and power...

RFTC: Drone Lawyer Responds to NTSB Judgment in FAA Lawsuit Against “Trappy” Pirker

Tarot T810 build with Pixhawk FC

As I moved the Pixhawk in various attitudes and locations the motors (armed of course) would auto respond in roll and yaw. The responses did not seem large but without props the amount of response was pretty hard to gauge. It's quite likely mine was reacting to the original positional...

    Amazon looking for multirotor operators

Wasn't enough money in it. Most engineers are not "risk takers" and so are content to maintain employment in more stable or secure working environments such as mega corporations. Rocking the boat with innovative design and creativity just isn't what they do.

Wall Street Journal report, FAA regulations

Forcing a Pilot's license makes groups like AOPA, a very strong aviation advocacy group, happy. A very good way to starve to death is to be a flight instructor or small Fixed Based Operator. General Aviation Student Pilot starts have been in the gutter for over two decades and industry...

    Amazon looking for multirotor operators

It would be nice to get away from the war fighting machines I work with now, I have all the quals and then some except an engineering degree, but to lateral and perhaps to move to Seattle does not create a lot of enthusiasm. Ronan, I agree with you. I spend all my professional time correcting...

I spelled it wrong, sue me!

Have to obtain a lawyer to sue you. Much too expensive and questionable ethics involved with those guys. Perhaps a simple public flogging with a feather duster would do?:)

Tarot T810 build with Pixhawk FC

Centered would be a lot better. I have not built my Tarot yet but while ground testing the electronics with the props removed on my X-8 I've noticed considerable motor responses as I repositioned the Pixhawk to various locations and orientations.

    Representation for Commercial sUAS

Making that worse is high dollar sUAS being about as safe and dependable as giant scale RC aircraft. For some classes (Tier 1 and 2) of commercial sUAS they are considerably less reliable than RC. For the giant scale RC enthusiast their planes typically crash because they pushed the limits of...

Flying a GH-4, would you go for a DJI S900 or a well built Skyjib 6?

Both would be effective flight platforms, the 900 being lighter, as as long as the A2 was removed from the equipment lists. The Wookong is generally trustworthy if not using GPS slaved flight modes.
