2014 - best ESC at the moment?

Kloner, I see in an MRF archive that the HK BlueSeries 40 A ESCs are the same as the Maytech 40 Amp..... but much less expensive.... but I don't think they are available in OPTO..... Another difference might be that the BlueSeries allow for simple jumper configuration with SimonK programming...

    SimonK Beeps

Beeps are good...... smoke! not so good! Wish I could help...... In the case of motor testing on the bench with a $5 speed controller a similar thing happened....... I had accidentally left the speed control at some position above zero speed. After returning the speed controller to the zero...

Tiger Motors 4014 330kv or 400kv - which would you chose.

Bartman and Sk8brd, Your postings are both excellent and timely advice. Seems to me that eCalc can give me optimum flight time at 50% throttle but does not account for ultra stable in a breeze or wind which seems to account for your suggestion to load the MR with camera enough to hover at about...

What is that sticky tape called.....?

Some prefer to use Kyosho Zeal tape for protecting RC electronics from vibration, if you can't eliminate all the vibration.

2014 - best ESC at the moment?

Never mind..... it is quite clear now that these are all T-motors.... I'll be choosing between U5 and 4014 using 15x5 props to carry a GH3 or 4 on a Cinestar 8 2 axis BGC system (nothing heavier). Certainly all excellent advice though.

    Where to Place NAZA LED?

Because I fly my MR backwards to return for landing, I mount the LED on the back so that I can always see it coming and going.

Commercial flights deemed legal... Trappy won!

The original FAA charge was: The order of assessment alleges a violation of Section 91.13(a) of the federal aviation regulations (“FARs”), which states that no person may operate an aircraft in a careless or reckless manner so as to endanger the life or property of another.[6] In a new era where...

    Prop adapter confusion

Typically those motors come with the prop adapter. If the prop adapter threaded bolt is too large for the props, they need to be reamed out with the correct reaming tool....... never use a drill bit or the larger hole will be drifting to one side etc. Not sure how the wood prop hubs stand up to...

    My F800 "Finger Snapper"

Yes.... but only if you use 4S batteries. Since these motors are capable of higher rpms using 5S and 6S batteries..... you need ESCs that will accomodate the full range, i.e., 2S thru to 6S. While it is possible to purchase 30A ESCs allowing for 5S and 6S.... they are rare. Typically you have to...

    My F800 "Finger Snapper"

aForceThrust, BTW - How are those 4112 - 320KV Turnigy Multistar motors working out for you? Are you using 6S batteries with them? What ESCs are you using? I have been using the Turnygy Multistar 420 KV motors....

    FAA Myths

Excellent feedback all... Now I have a better handle on facts versus possibly misleading info. and BTW - here is a simulation of the ebb and flow of air traffic between continents (allow some time to seem how it ebbs after the sun sets. It makes it apparent as to where most of the air traffic...

    FAA Myths

http://parcap.org/news/faa-myth-busting/ Myth 7: only 7500 commercial by 2018...... versus the original forecast of 30,000..... That works out to about 1500 per year throughout the entire USA. Comments?

Alternate mounting of motors on a hexacopter

It could have something to do with the ability to fold it up tighter to fit into a smaller case in a way that prevents the props from touching. The FC won't know the difference since you simply configure the 3 wires to each motor as required to achieve the rotation direction required. I...

    Multicopter for Police Use

I talked to the hobby shop owner some time ago asking too many technical questions...... go the sales pitch boasting of CHAOS superiority c/w condemnation of the newer technologies as unreliable etc. Their competition for police application seems to be Draganflyer out of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan...

    Multicopter for Police Use
