I was keeping my eye on them and the openpilot project also. I still like the KK and multiwii boards because they are inexpensive and good for beaters. The multiwii may be even better because of the ability to auto level by means of the accelerometers.

The ability of the MK FC to power (ground) LEDs is somewhat limited. How many LEDs are you talking about? Do you have a distribution board with the LED transistor circuit pads on it?
