    Crash's FPV build - some (dis)assembly required.

Headtracker wireless transmitter The initial tests of the wireless head tracker appear to be a success. A couple notes: This method will only work on the better control radios that allow the user to limit the channels that trainer mode can use. IOW, I have the headtracker creating 8 channels...

    Crash's FPV build - some (dis)assembly required.

Mainly, I don't like all the electronics in them. They have microprocessors out the wazoo. The cable to the main box has something like 30 wires in it. The connector needs to be babied. I don't like waiting for them to boot up, and I don't like having to negotiate menus to get a picture. I...

    Crash's FPV build - some (dis)assembly required.

I have not tried them but most reports say they are good. I would use them before HeadPlay goggles. If you find that they don't work for you, I have a set of barely used (3 flights) HeadPlay goggles I'd sell for $125.

    Crash's FPV build - some (dis)assembly required.

I have seen diopter lenses for Fatshark goggles. And the Headplay's have a focus adjustment. Fatsharks are better but have no 3D capabilities. The EVG920 goggles have no adjustments.

    Crash's FPV build - some (dis)assembly required.

I'm not that lucky. I went FPV flying yesterday with the new MultiWii bird and I got fed up with the wiring mess. At this point I'm aiming for a 'beater box' where you plug the goggles in, hit one switch and it works. I may change my mind later. Who knows. ;)

    Crash's FPV build - some (dis)assembly required.

I'm going to attempt to document my build of a FPV system. Currently my ground station is composed of a spaghetti mess of wires. This build aims to fix that mess. For starters, read this page: http://videoaerialsystems.com/fpv-a-guide-to-success/ You may recognize the owner of that site as...

    Quad flyaway

ARF - Almost ready to crash. ;) The diversity board takes the signals from up to 4 satellites and sends the good one ahead. The satellites don't have the best range or antenna and then people tend to mount them on a metal motor arm. Diversity helps fix the problem.

    Quad flyaway

Yea, seems pretty pricey for an open source/open hardware design that uses about $15 in parts. http://translate.google.de/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fforum.mikrokopter.de%2Ftopic-22520.html&sl=de&tl=en&hl=&ie=UTF-8

    Quad flyaway

It would be worth the money to buy a locator beacon and receiver like the one buzzed has posted about at mk.us. It's a few hundred bucks, but you WILL find the bird as long as the beacon isn't in pieces. MKs can fly away also. I didn't believe it last week but then I saw a log that showed 44...

Need an engineers help on BL-Ctrl failure

R25 or it's trace can't carry enough current to get that hot by itself. However if I'm not mistaken, these are 4 layer boards. I have seen the shunts on the V1.2 boards cook, but there is no visible shunt on the V2 boards. I have wondered if the shunt or something else that carries a lot of...

Need an engineers help on BL-Ctrl failure

Hmm, we finally got a good picture of the resistor. I had thought that the resistor was like that from the factory, but now I'm not so sure. Fox over in the other forum has seen heat cause that type of detachment. Both C FETs are blown and there is what I believe to be signs of heat in the...

OSD for FPV on a Mikrokopter?

I don't know what exactly was wrong with Buzzed's board. I cleaned up a few joints on the connector and it worked for me. He could of had it cabled to the stack improperly or maybe the firmware on the board didn't match the Navi. I did change a crystal because it was slightly flaky but that...

    Another TriCopter

Got a spare board? ;) Is it populated on both sides or just the top? I just compiled the GCS the other day and started to figure out how to compile the firmware. You guys at openpilot are doing it right. I can't wait to see the full board. BTW, Welcome to the site. Stay a while. :) Kirk

OSD for FPV on a Mikrokopter?

That depends. It's running in the above picture with just 4 wires soldered to an Xbee board. I just updated the firmware on it. That is perhaps going to be the hardest part for most people. You either need an Atmel programmer with a 10 pin cable or you need to make a 6 to 10 pin adapter. Then...

    MultiWii Flight Board

I finally got around to wiring up the MultiWii board that I put together months ago. The wiring is a bit of a mess because I didn't have an interface board and with it just being a test craft, I did it fast. Bottom line is that it flew well with no tuning. I only flew half a battery but so far...

OSD for FPV on a Mikrokopter?

Wow, I just checked the price. The RV board looks like overkill to me. You would be paying for autopilot which likely will not work on a copter. I think a Remzibi would do the job at a fraction of the price. Ken, Look at the picture below. It takes up no real estate on the frame as long as you...

The only thing I know is that being a moderator makes you loose your hair. Hopefully Droider has a head start. :) BTW, What is a 'hucker'?

    Learning FPV

I find it easier to fly FPV also. I haven't got the landings down yet though. I'm going to try a head tracker and pan/tilt cam soon. I'm on the other side of the Blue Ridge from the Lexington exit on 81. Next time you drive down, take Skyline Drive and then the Blue Ridge Parkway. It might add...

    what to use

I don't think the arducopter boards can support dual props either at this point. I'm sure they will in the future. Let's see some pictures of your new kit.

    Learning FPV

The nice thing about them is that they wire right into the serial lines on the Navi and just use the sensors already in place on the bird. With a wireless serial link, you can run the board on the ground. You will have to get your hands a little dirty though. For example, you will need a Atmel...
