    The Future of Propeller Technology

That's pretty harsh. It seems that KDE are in good company with moving to this kind of prop. First DJI, then Freefly, and now KDE...are you prepared to present data that can challenge this clear industry trend?

FREEFLY Systems Freefly ALTA, RTF collapsible hexacopter

There might be more clarity on this by the time it ships. But I've spent quite a bit of time analyzing causes of accidents where motor(s) failed in "traditional" multirotors. ALTA addresses many of these with newer design elements such as redundant bus connections, ESCs cooled by prop wash, and...

FREEFLY Systems Freefly ALTA, RTF collapsible hexacopter

I am a huge fan of Freefly's customer service. True story: I bought one of the first MōVI M5s, and have the distinction of crashing the first one, too. I was hovering my octo in front of me with the MōVI on it on its 2nd or 3rd flight and as I dug my iPhone out of my pocket to take a photo, my...

FREEFLY Systems Freefly ALTA, RTF collapsible hexacopter

From my conversations with Tabb and others, it's realistic if you have a camera operator unpacking and setting up your MōVI that you can be from Pelican case to airborne in 5-10 minutes. Talk about a game changer. :D

I took a little time to write up my first impressions and to gather answers to some more technical questions about the ALTA. Hop on over to my blog and have a read. Thanks! http://perspectivair.com/2015/04/15/freefly-alta-first-impressions-and-technical-qa/

FREEFLY Systems Freefly ALTA, RTF collapsible hexacopter

I think it's more about the deceleration of the motors. That's why it's called "active braking". Mikrokopter employs this technique in their BL 3.0 ESCs. Here's how they describe it (http://wiki.mikrokopter.de/en/DoubleQuadro-BL-Ctrl_3) rapid acceleration and braking of the propeller. Active...

FREEFLY Systems Freefly ALTA, RTF collapsible hexacopter

I spent quite a bit of time with Tabb and a couple other folks from Freefly, and here's some more info. Retail price is $8500 and includes a Pelican case. It doesn't include any radios. Synapse is the flight/nav controller. And it will not be available standalone. Power distro, ESCs, motors and...

    [URGENT] DJI Phantom Apps

That's a little like saying you don't like the motor in your Toyota so you want to put a VW motor in it. It's not that you couldn't do it, you just shouldn't. If you don't like/trust DJI, then don't fly their machines. If there's a bug, go back to an older version.

    SynDrones X8 Heavy Lift Build

Yes, I'm MK top to bottom. But I'm flying a lot lighter than @BirdsEyeProd. My machine is 11-12kg with a MōVI M5 and GH4. Josh is flying much heavier and the MK ESCs (or BLs as they call them) don't have quite enough overhead to handle bigger machines. I have considered moving to the individual...

    SynDrones X8 Heavy Lift Build

There are a lot of people (including me) who fly a copter just like that with MK electronics and it works fine. But they are difficult to get set up and a little fidgety sometimes. I have hundreds of hours of time on mine.

looking for something to build for a dslr.

My suggestion is to build backwards...start with the camera you want to fly, find/build a brushless gimbal that's suited to the camera/lens combo you want, then spec a hex or octo that'll handle that payload for the kind of flying you intend to do. Like @Bartman said, the options are numerous...

how much to wait between flights?

    Thank you for clarifying that.

how much to wait between flights?

Those two issues are orthogonal. I agree wholeheartedly with the second statement. But there is plenty of data regarding the advantage of higher voltage power systems (6S, for example) being more capable. In my case, when I upgraded my 4S octo to 6S, I had more lifting power, and the ESCs and...

how much to wait between flights?

What? That's ridiculous. Electricity is electricity. If your copter is put together haphazardly, it's going to eventually have issues. If it's well-built and you're using good batteries and other components, you're actually less likely to have issues like overheating. As a matter of fact...
