    a new micro...anyone seen this?

Remember, this started as a Kickstarter about a year ago. It was a decent package back then. Had it been delivered when originally promised instead of six months late, it might have been a different story.

Moving from 3S setup to 6S

I've been using an eBay-purchased version of the board, and it works great. I use the 12V tap for my whole FPV system (Tarot gimbal, flight cam, vTX) and the 5V to charge my GoPro in flight.

Moving from 3S setup to 6S

You may need a BEC if you're going to have an FPV setup or a gimbal on there. Those things typically require 12V or 5V. But the DJI gear can all run off of 6S as long as you hook up the PMU correctly. I run just such a setup. But you probably need some kind of power distribution board for the...

    a new micro...anyone seen this?

I thought it'd be nice to have a super portable RC multirotor that I could leave in my car and/or travel with. My other copters are much more significant investments in time and complexity to get 'em in the air. There are times I think it'd be nice to just say "I love the view from this...

The arms are not 3D printed. They appear to be mass-produced plastic. And not very strong.

    a new micro...anyone seen this?

Well, the little thing finally shipped and I have mine in front of me. Unfortunately, it seems maybe the ESCs need calibration or something, and I can't get it to start up. The ESC calibration sequence doesn't seem to match what it's supposed to do according to the APM wiki. I've sent off a...

    Mikrokopter GPS Question

I never take off with GPS Position Hold enabled. The reason is simple: it's quite difficult to correct for a GPS glitch whilst applying power to lift off. My practice 100% of the time is to take off in Manual mode, climb to 3-4 meters, enable Altitude Hold, observe stability, enable Position...

DJI DropSafe drop speed reduction system released

My heavy lift X8 machine is 11+kg AUW, so an extra 550g is not a show-stopper if it works. But after doing a little more research, I doubt I can make it work with the Mikrokopter electronics I'm using. Seems it's very tightly integrated with the DJI A2 (which makes perfect sense, really).

DJI DropSafe drop speed reduction system released

Do you have any data on how much weight the system can handle? Or what one can expect in the way of speed arresting at different weights?

    Mikrokopter Update MK 2.5

There are a ton of factors that need to be considered to properly tune a MK system. Toilet bowling is very common in a copter that's got magnetic interference of some sort, such as from improperly-run LiPo wires, or from balance issues. These things are not plug and play, but when you invest the...

Sure, and you could zip tie 4 dragonflies to an enchilada, too.

    Maximum AUW

Apples vs. Oranges. Flight controllers do not care how heavy they are. That's all about your power systems (ESCs, motors, props, etc.).

    Air Ambulance Service via Multirotor!

On a practical level, I wonder how many cardiac emergencies requiring an AED happen outdoors in proximity of a trained medical professional. I'm not sure this is a "killer app" for UAVs (pardon the pun). And I'm sure the ambulance chaser robotic lawyer drone will be close behind to make sure...

    Suggestions on Heavy Lift build

It might be good to look at Quadrocopter's Cinestar-based CS8 Heavy Lifter as a good starting point. Lots of folks fly REDs with that platform. And their support is excellent. Here's their X8 coax: http://www.quadrocopter.com/CineStar-X8-MK-HEAVY-LIFT-RTF_p_1376.html
