    S800 EVO Short flight times!?!?

Ambient temperature is also a problem. I have a maxamps 10,900 6S, and I get 60% of the flight time in winter (-5'c to 5'c) that I do in the summer (25-30'c). Lipo's don't like the cold. Running in new cells at 0'c will display the symptoms you are describing.

KDE Direct has added Multi-Rotor Heli motors to their lineup

Pricey! Will be interesting to hear how they compare to tmotor, AXI, Scorpion etc who are all in that price bracket.

January 2014...which is the best brushless Gimbal for GoPro2?

A number. 1. When level, it has tiny, tiny oscillations on pitch. 2. Both pitch and roll don't respond fast/hard enough: I tried more power, more P, and just about everything. No joy - it still seemed to lag. I could get it almost right...then problem 3 would kick in 3. slow to return to level...

I think I've ruined my first Lipo

Hmmm. If some cells were still at 3.6, then the one that hit 0.0 might have been defective. Were any devices connected via the balancer port by any chance? A 5000 should be able to run electronics (no motors connected) for 4 hours even with the gimbal attached.

    Pro's & Con's of 3S vs 4S Batteries

Bigger props, turned slower = better flight times. I prefer to think of 3S = "endurance", and 4S = "performance". Hardly scientific, but there you go. Re: heat etc - it's more a factor what props you're asking a motor to turn. An underpowered/undertorqued motor will heat up more trying to turn...

January 2014...which is the best brushless Gimbal for GoPro2?

Hi guys, Ok, given the rate of progress of Gimbal design these days, I thought I'd ask where can I get a Gimbal that meets the following criteria: - Lighter than a generation 1 RCtimer aluminium - Is *not* an "L-shaped" gimbal. ie the mount tray is supported by a motor on one side, and a...

XAircraft What the hell was I thinking???

The flight you think..."This thing is flying really reliably now"...is invariably the last flight you think that.

    F550 flyaway

In Switzerland, it's can be covered under your normal liability cover. As a consequence all my rigs carry my contact details on. You are all flying with liability insurance....right?

Help - Combining multirotor, gimbal and FPV transmitter to use the same 4S battery

It's not the output voltage that changes - it's fixed at 12V. It's the output *amps* that change. I run 6S into it, so the output *amps* is 2A - a 4S setup will output 3A. No, I never worked out why bigger volts = less amps, but i'm sure someone who didn't fall asleep in high school physics...

Help - Combining multirotor, gimbal and FPV transmitter to use the same 4S battery

Just get a 12V BEC, and 3 small ferrites. 1 inbound on the cables to the BEC itself, 1 each on the outbounds. Solder 2 outputs from the BEC - one for the FPV tx, and one for the gimbal. A filter on the FPV tx would be good too, as you state. Solder the BEC to the PDB of the F550. I use the...

    T-Motor Props - WOW

Worse than that, he's probably got some U Pro's turning them too. Even if it's only a quad, you're looking at over $1,200 just in motors...

    Heavylift Motor/Powerboard Choice

A personal note about t-motors. I'm a big fan of tmotors, but recently I've notice they do not respond well to even minor crashes. I've had to replace 2 MN3508's after an unbalanced tip over on take off (landing leg was caught in grass), and one on landing. They still ran, and the bell was...

    Heavylift Motor/Powerboard Choice

I do it slightly differently, but I guess everyone does! 1. Determine your AUW. 2. Then divide by 8 (for an octo). 3. This gives you the thrust per motor needed to maintain hover. 4. Try to find a list of motor/prop combo's that can deliver this at 50% throttle. 5. Narrow that list down to the...

    Best Nex5 3-Axis Gimbal for the $$

This looks like a quality bit of kit that's actually been thought out properly. And the clean wiring appeals to my OCD. The support of video out from the Nex is a nice touch; it's good to be able to see how your camera is performing before you shoot 20mins of video, only to find a) the camera...

    Best Nex5 3-Axis Gimbal for the $$

Update to my own post: I chucked the martinez, and installed a v2 alexmos. And things improved considerably. There is still a tiny buzzy vibration, but it barely registers on the display, and bench performance of the nex5 is better (cleaner, sharper video). A bit more tuning to get rid of that...

    Fllying in snow question

Brushless motors tend to do ok in the rain/snow, as long as the cabling is water tight. Exposure to water may shorten bearing life, if the bearings aren't sealed. Any exposed circuit boards or traces will fail, as water is a conduit. Cover up all electronics, and make sure your wiring is clean...

Motor stops twice in mid air on hexa

Nope, mine did this too, imediately switching my TBS Disco from 3S to 4S. Stopped once, and crashed, motor whining. Checked over...everything looked ok, spun smoothly etc. Attempted a test launch again, and...a couple of twitches, then magic smoke from the ESC. Motor was now jammed solid. New...

    indoor delivery drone

Dreaming? Afraid so...but the technology is here, in various states of undress: - tray or a box under or over the drone, or the ability to attach one (we can 3D print that if its not available for purchase) Can be done. - ability to flight straight without tilting too much (if any) Can't be...

Radio question - Futaba v Spektrum

Re: Spektrum vs Futuba...the holy wars...:nevreness: Ok, I'm a happy spektrum owner, with my DX8 giving good service. Day to day controls, I didn't really notice much difference between the two (although I was using a cheaper Futuba at the time). Sticks felt the same, switches the same etc. If...
