I don’t think Waypoints are far off with teh SX. I know the unit has the hardware capabilities, just needs the right firmware update. I’m sure a ground station and a Fee will be required, but that’s cool, I don;t mind paying for something when it works properly!

I have a Sky Hero Spyder. It’s a very high quality machine. The carbon is excellent. besides that, it will fly as good as your controller will. The size lends itself for a larger gimbal like a NEX 5 type deal. Many guys have used them. I think if you are looking to do FPV, it would be overkill...

You should always do this when using a servo based gimbal. If a servo goes bad and gets stuck, the spike in power could bring your machine down, where as if you had a sep battery, all you have is a dead servo. Same I guess could apply to a brushless gimbal as well!

Personally I can’t stand the Naza flight controller, so for a larger rig, I would not recommend that. if you are die hard set on DJI I’d look in to the Wookong, or a Xaircraft SuperX if you really want to use the same FC in a larger system. This is just my opinion, and others love the Naza, but...

It will, just unplug the GPS. But If you calibrated it on the ground, there is no reason the GPS would not work once you take off from the boat. You are not going to be flying it in the hull. Worst case would be to take off in Atti mode, hover away from the boat for a min and let the GPS find...
