DVP #090 | Petr Is Shooting Steam Trains | Best Ways to Price Your Jobs

Most instances charge per hour, my doctor charges per visit. If something is scarce or unique, that price can become higher, if some one else can do the job cheaper, you may loose the sale. Try buy a similar product, see what they charge? In my case, I establish a reputation first, giving...

That's why you should always balance propellers

I balanced props using two chromed rods (Smooth surfaces) the prop was on an axle that just fitted through the centre. Used sandpaper to remove material from the heavy side. But by some strange coincidence I found the props liked to settle horizontally no matter what! The rods were 2cm apart...

Allocation od the switches on the Transmitter

The hardware discussed here is the Flysky FS-i6s and the APM flight controller. There are two modes mentioned in all the specifications, the MODE on the transmitter and the flying mode controlled by the flight controller. The mode on the transmitter has to do with the joystick allocations...

    New Member

Hi there, a fairly new member myself, I am a terrible flyer, crashed too many times. So I decided to build my own quadcopter. That has given many hours of pleasure, I didnt have a plan, but can work with aluminium and have a good knowledge of electronics. If it flies, hopefully I wont crash...

    Missing Drone

Anybody in the Boksburg area, some one found a drone in their back yard! It is on facebook "Boksburg community" something or other. If you lost your drone, try go through the various Boksburg community groups. I myself dont belong to any of them, I just heard it from a friend. Good luck there!

    Camera gimbal for DJI F550

I have been looking for a 2 axis gimbal, and there are many available for gopro and for the Phantom. My concerns were the angles it could move to, the roll and pitch, and the specs dont say much most of the time. A lot of the youtube shorts, the person wobbles the copter around to demonstrate...

    Crash!

I have been reading the tips left behind by some experienced flyers, the one thing I omitted to do is do a pre-flight check. What I did do was put "prestick" over the holes where the screws go. As I went up I heard a strange noise, and before I could land one motor came off and the quad...

    ham radio license

I just wonder, how they gonna know what power you are transmitting? They must have a special receiver with a "S" meter, and even then a good antenna will give the impression of a higher power. At 2.4ghz (line of sight) is it going to help for an extended distance? Is 27megs still available for...

    Mission Planner and programming

I dont like Windows most of the time, but I had to use it for mission planner. APM planner works on Ubuntu but apparently some features are missing. So I had to make a shortcut to mission planner on the desktop, to do that one has to go to the place where it is on the hard drive, look through...

    Another flying machine

I was involved with a comms board for a gyrocopter. As part of the reward I was taken on a flight. It was like riding a Harley Davidson but a bit noisier! The top rotor was turned by an electric motor then the propulsion propeller lifted us up after about ten meters, then the power was removed...

Not the Autumn but the Spring for Drones

I was just thinking that any small quadcopter can be used by security firms to check for intruders when a alarm is registered at the control centre. Most of us have security systems coupled via radio to a security firm. Intruders could be armed and if a security guard ventures onto the premises...

    The South African law.

You will get those that will try stop you from flying your craft, so it will pay you to know what your rights are. Your Radio controlled flying machines have been classified according to weight, and under 1.5Kg the various rules do not apply. Here is the link...

    Drone study

I was just wondering, my first flight in a boeing 707, I was kinda nervous, and they didnt give us parachutes! I eventually had a lot of drinks from the bar! Now with all the technology at our disposal, surely there is some thing one can do to reduce the danger of hurting some one, and even...

    Age of Drones is coming!

For me Germany is otherside the equator! It would be great if some one that went there could post a nice long article of the new concepts presented at such an Expo.....er....even if they can point to a magazine that did a full coverage? I am sure some thing exciting is going to come up, nobody...

    Professional closed forums

I am just wondering about those that might not have have the right qualifications to join the group, but are interested in the comings and goings of the "professionals"? It just might stimulate some one to get what is required to become a "Proffessional"? Me myself, am too old to venture into...

What Micro Quad Will You Use 300mah 3S On?

It must be a small little battery for a small copter? You mention Microcopter, one will need to know the current of all the motors, then you can make a calculation. The current drawn by FC and camera, take it 100ma (It could be more or a lot less) The total current average Ta, and the battery...

Homemade quadcopter failure. Not even in the sky.

Screws that come loose...ish! You will have to raid your wifes make up drawer, steal her nail varnish, paint a generous coat around the head and nut. The nice thing about this is if you have to loosen that screw, a hard jerk cracks the varnish off, so you can still do the odd...
