Wont return home and land - GPS or Fail Safe mode

Gencode, it is a receiver function that has nothing to do with the transmitter. Even though the receiver has more channels that your transmitter you will be fine. Just for my information, how do you have the channels set up in your Dx6i for Mode, IOC and RTH?

Okay, I will get a AR7010 if it will then return home and land.
Just want to confirm, this should be all i need, I wont need to upgrade my DX6i?

You are on the right track. Yes the slider will move to failsafe, but what does the throttle do. If it stays at Zero, the motors will stop. If it is above 10% they will continue to stabilize the craft and start the RTH program. These are great FC's that do amazing things for little money. Have fun flying them.

Ok so I changed the first 100% value to 75% which is about 15% throttle (over the 10% minimum)
Now when the Tx is turned off it still goes to the GPS/failsafe AND the throttle indicator bumps up a bit in the assistant screen

That is the result that you want. You should not have an issue with Loose of Signal when the Rx goes into preset failsafe. Hopefully you will never need it, but it is there when you do.

I would connect Aux 1 to the U channel on the Naza and enable the Fmode switch. That will give you a three position switch for mode. Gear can go to X1 and Aux 2 to X2. The problem is that you have no other three position switches. I think that the IOC can be set up on a two position switch and the Gear can be your RTH switch. I have my 9503 with this set up but the Aux 2 switch is three position switch.

(confusion)

So I removed the U that was connected to Gear
Flipped Gear to 1 - F Mode

but now none of the swithes do anything

Yea, you have to have Aux 1 and Aux 2 to make this work. Sorry. With a 6 channel tx you still may not have enough channels. You need 4 for th, ail, elev, and rudder. That only gives you mode, the Aux1 channel, and Gear or Aux 2 for IOC. You can set up a mix for the RTH function or shut off the transmitter. You can make it work, it just takes a little more effort. I like 8 channels or more. I sometimes wish I had more than my 9 channel Tx. Oh Well, always bigger better out there.

Send me a PM and I will give you my cell number. We can talk or if you prefer, we can talk on Skype.

You are welcome. I don't want people to crash their valuable craft. I have and it is not fun, we all learn from each other. Pass it on.

I'm going to make a Pre-set fail safe vid on how to verify your "over the 10% minimum" and get the pre-set failsafe correct.
Passing it on is what I'll do for sure

Okay,

Well it sounds as I wont be able to get RTH working with this Rx or Tx :(

Get the DX8i and I will be fine?
The manual mentions Futaba but since I already know the Spektrum ill stick with that assuming it will work for RTH

Guys, please confirm that I need to get a DX7 or DX8 to handle RTH.

Im still not sure why since its a function of the Rx not the Tx but i guess once i get it working I will understand it better.

Thanks, Ed,

I was told minimum 7 channels but I can not say I know that 100%
Check the PDF Naza manual if you have some time, if I was home I would take a look

Gencode that is not true. You can do it. It will require a mix in your transmitter for a switch or if you turn off the Tx or loose signal with a AR 7XXX receiver set up with a Preset Failsafe it will RTH. Like I said, if you want to talk let me know.

P.S. I owned a Dx8 and sold it to a friend. It was ok but I like my 9503 a lot better especially with a lipo to power it. It is a personal preference. I liked the knob but the rest of the Tx left me cold.
