WARNING - Firmware 5.24

Well.....just got back from my little twiddle of the stick up at my flying club in buxton and I was disappointed to see my xm x4 loose GPS and switch to Atti at least 5 times with its 7 minute flight. I monitored the GPS status during the flight and I had a good 11 SATs. So its not looking good at all....one other strange anomaly was whilst switching from GPS to Atti during the flight she dropped in altitude by about 2 feet which doesn't sound much but it was a sudden drop not a gradual...a little like when switching into manual mode and you have real control of you throttle and you have to catch the change. I'll monitor this as its a bit disconcerting...has anyone noticed this?
Sounds like interesting times for PH, if they can nail their rsg then great news but like you say droider there's other people working their wonders so time will tell.
OK I'm off to try that maris piper in my Av...fried or boiled?

You can tell when its switching to Atti either by lack of position hold or/also the copter gives a kind of quick nod normally on the pitch attitude

It can also manifest itself by trying to lock on to a position that is not where it's at. i.e. after a fast run it will not stop at that position but will keep going somewhere else that it has partially locked on to. You will have to fight it unless you switch to manual very quickly.

Not wishing to dig up the past DJI indiscretions but in comparison, the new X Aircraft controller SuperX seems to be keeping folks pretty happy. I don't hear any bashing about it. Externally a lot of similarity. Not cheap in comparison to APM which I have come to like a lot.

I have quite a large collection of different controllers which get changed about as new firmware gets released. Don't have a Super X so any comments from those who have one.

I do. Aircraft is still under construction, so I can't comment on flight characteristics just yet, but based on my 72 hour burn-in and bench testing, this thing is a winner. I'm thinking, like, WKM beater good.

It is actually pretty easy. You will need to make a cable from the video out on the H3-2D GCU and connect to the 4 pin video in. You should have gotten a bare wire cable with the iOSD. Don't solder it up initially until you determine which channel you are on in the iOSD, otherwise you will have to have a channel in your Tx to change the channels. You are only connecting video and ground. The power in the H3-2D is disconnected anyway. Connect your vTx and you are done. If it is the DJI, it is plug and play. If you are using something else, you will need to build another cable. Connect the two power and the two grounds together and connect the video lead. Remember the power out is 12v. If your vTx does not support that voltage then you will need a bec.

Either my iOSD, or my ZenH3-2D came with the cable. I didn't have to make one. The cable that comes with it wires it to Channel 1 so that on powerup you get the video without having to switch.

PLEASE Guys can we stick to the thread.. I aint bothered about Xaircraft stuff if you want to waffel on about that, OSD's or anything other than the firmware 5.24 please go to a relevent thread or start a new one. After another full weeks flying commercially its crap. AND it aint just my machines.

Eyeballs machines have the GPS V2 and have the same problem. is everyone on here flying with the BT module? I am not to sure yet because we have been so busy but I am going to test without BT module to see if its that causing interference with the GPS V1's I have. Peeps with GPS V2's having a good experience with this firmware are you flying with BT module??

Can't remember if I have red it here or on another forum, but somebody mentioned that he could only get rid of the problems by using the old LED......somebody else mentioned that he always had to completely switch off his iPhone / iPad before starting the copter....apperantely the App wouldn't cut off any other way the connection to the BT-LED and cause erratic behavior of the copter.

Dave, thankyou for bringing the thread back to focus.
To the question you asked, I have Wookong with 5.24, BT LED with latest firmware (forget the #), GPS V2, IMU V1, and I haven't had any problem with the WKM dropping out of GPS mode (that I have noticed, felt, or seen, without pulling out the iOSD data), nor have I had the problem Chris is alluding to of the iPhone application interfering with arming of the motors.
I must be blessed! ;)

Dave, I don't think the BT module has any bearing on the problem. I am flying without the BT module and I am still having intermittent problems with 5.24. One minute I am rock steady under GPS mode, the next my 550 is edging away from me and picking up speed. I cannot work out any specific pattern to the behaviour, occasionally I have a full flight without problems then I land, change batteries and the problem reappears! I am flying mostly in ATTI mode now because I cannot totally rely on GPS.

Eric.

Flying 5.24, IMU V1, GPS V2, Iosd and BT LED. Have not had any problems so far. Dave have you reported the issue to Dji?

Same problem here, since I have installed V5.24, I can't get GPS (V2) working anymore. I have calibrated the compass many times in different places but no way, green/yellow flash and won't even switch to GPS mode. I will sent it back to my dealer next week!

Thanks CV. And others I thought it was just happening to us north of England boys.
I am reverting back to 5.20 as my machine is not the same under the new firmware. The whole flight characteristics have changed even in atti.
I really don't have time to experiment with different try outs from the BT module to the iPad connection but thanks everyone for the suggestions. Ill wait for a fix...... If they can be bothered that is. I have not reported this directly to DJI as you never get a response. They should be monitoring the forums and catching stuff like this and responding on here but we will never see that. Just wish there was another FC that flew as well as it does on my kit. Even if there was it would be a whole load of mither getting them all regestared with the CAA. Anyhow as least I know it will fly with the old firmware.

Again everyone thanks for chipping in. Lets keep this thread going in a hope someone finds the answer.
