Need some help selecting a propeller and need to know where to get them...

I'm building a Y6 and I'll be able to spin 12" blades so that's what I'm looking for. I'm looking for something like 12x4 for the top motors and 12x6 for the bottom motors. What are people using and where are you getting them from? I'd like to find them as cheap as possible so the $100 a piece Xoars are out. Any good carbon fiber blades out there? I have been using a set of 11 inch CF props from here for the last 2 months, reasonably well balanced out of the bag, only needed a small amount of tweaking. Nice and stiff and no problems so far. I have those on a Hexa which has a 76cm mtm distance and is using sunnysky V2814/11 700kv motors but havent tried them on any coaxial setup.

I had Gemfan props that looked like that. One of the props snapped at the hub (the weakest point on that design) which sent my craft down. I had less than five minutes flight time with those props. I image that your craft has some weight if you are using 12 inch props. Carbon fiber is strong. I just don't like the design of that prop. It's like two blades that are attached to a hub. It only takes a hairline fracture for the prop to separate from the hub.

I had one set of 9x5 come with my TBS Discovery and one was like it was rotted at the hub. Not glued well I guess.
Take them and put them up to your ear and listen. Buckle them just a little and see if you can hear the carbon fiber stands.
If I hear it I toss them aside. Normally they're hard has hell and can't buckle.
I had two out of about 30 go bad ... one made a noise, the other was rotted (not glued) like I mentioned.

I need to get some (13x6.5) for my new Hex build, and it'll be from them hands down.

Those look like Graupner clones to me and they're in carbon fiber which means they're probably super strong and super light. I don't see that style in 12" props so maybe I'll go with the 11x5 to start out with and go from there. Those 11x5 props you put the link up to look really nice and I'm happy to hear you haven't had an issue with them yet. The main problem with the Y6 setup is that the lower motor is always less efficient because it has to work with prop wash from the top motor. Ideally I'd like to get 11x5 on the top and 11x7 on the bottom but I could also do 11x5 on the top and 12" on the bottom. I guess I'll start out with the 11x5 and go from there. I had 10 minutes of solid flying on my Hexa with 10x5 APC props so maybe I can keep that same flight time with 11x5 props. Thanks for the info and the links, I really appreciate it!

PS - My motors will spin 12" blades but 12x5 or higher pitch would mean they were at their absolute maximum and that means they'll come down super hot I'm thinking.

I'm running Turnigy NTM 750Kv 265W 18A max motors so yours will spin bigger props than mine. I'll eventually upgrade them but I'm in no rush, I haven't had one fail yet and I've flown for over 60+ videos and 15 hours of logged flight time now.

Yeah they are, probably direct rip-offs much like the Graupner clones on RCtimer that are made of carbon fiber. I just want something that works and works well and NOT a slower flyer prop...ugh.

The surface area is towards the end of the prop blades which leaves very little material connecting the prop to the prop hub which is where they tend to break. I just bought some carbon fiber 11x5 Graupner clones so I'm looking forward to those coming in.

Thanks - you don't want props snapping. To be quieter, maybe I'll use bigger motors and props, so they can run at a lower rpm. I'm going to be shooting weddings.

Prop selection is as important as motor selection and you can use bigger props with motors that can handle them but you don't want to overload your motors. If you want quieter you're really going to have to work for it. It starts with the motors and you're going to have to shell out some money here, Avroto I hear is exceptional but they're around $50USD each. Graupner blades are pretty quite but I've never used them, I can tell you the APC blades are NOT quite at all. Something probably a little stiffer like carbon fiber. Maybe you can find a good motor/prop combo on here or on YouTube or something like that. Just make sure you're motors and props are balanced.

Rusty's UAP-2 has been exceptional so far and is coming together quickly. It's highly configurable and I can turn it into an X4, X6, X8 or keep it as a Y6 so I love that.

I haven't tried them, but I like the design. It looks like they are made from one sheet of carbon fiber to form a uniform blade vs. two carbon fiber blades attached to a fragile hub. I think the ones in the post are knock offs of t-motors's brand. I want to try t-motors props, but they are extremely expensive.
