My brushless gimbal result

All wires coming from the motor are black. Is there a chance of switching the pos and neg wires and shorting the system?

I second this, it took me ages to work out that you can NOT upgrade via the GUI, you have to use xloader..it does say failed, but when in GUI after the update you will see the new version has been correctly installed.

I just swopped out my VR 3 axis to compare with the alexmos and I had no problems with the update via the latest GUI. Not much to choose between them but the Alexmos is a lot easier to get going with and I would say as things stand at the moment it is a little smoother with small motors.

If as I do, you want to use the board in follow mode on yaw and it does not want to face dead straight with the model heading, the fix is to adjust the yaw trim + or - how ever many degrees it is off and then restart the board and it will settle in the new position. Expansion board does not have a mag. to tell it where the front is so it uses a number of fixed positions that may or may not align with the front of the model and it will drift in time. It can only be reset by rebooting. Calibration of the accels. alone will not fix this issue and you have to restart the board for it to take effect. Never the less it produces stunning footage. Great work from Alexsey.

Hey all,

Here's a quick pix at the new VX5N-V2 gimbal, now made to fit Sony Nex5, Nex6, Nex7. Black Magic and other similar in size camera.

Changes:
* Wider width: camera plate now 165mm
* Camera cage height: 74mm
* Roll motor update to 4008-150t with hollow shaft to feed cable through, offer bigger bearing and better support.

Available both as 2 or 3 axis gimbal. Those who have the 2 axis V1 can also upgrade, we will have a kit to upgrade your gimbal to V2 if you like. Also if you had upgrade your V1 to 3rd axis, you can also upgrade to V2, fully compatible.

Thanks for all the support, we recently invested in a bigger CNC mill to pump out more production.

I am not sure, what's the camera dimension? and where's the mounting hole? give me left and right distance.

Looks great

How much does it weigh, 2 axis?

I have not weight it as a 2 axis yet. But the 3 axis gimbal with motors (no board) = 525 grams. I will give detail on specs in a day or so.

Sony A7r

Dimensions (WxHxD)5.0 x 3.7 x 1.9" / 126.9 x 94.4 x 48.2 mm
Weight14.36 oz / 407 g main unit only

Don't think that's going to work with the height of the view finder. I think we will design a aluminum bridge that go across that will offer the extra space on top of the lens... that will surely fit many more cameras.

Hi!

I am trying to tune in the new VX5 gimal with the Viacopter board and the new motors (I-Flight). My camera is NEX-5N with 16mm pancake lens and 0.75x wide angle extender. The total weight is 461 grams. See pics of my front mounted TBS Discovery The closest settings i got OK stabilization in v2.3b5 is in the attached picture. But this far from as good as with the first VX5 prototype gimbal I have (different motors and BGC board on that version). Please advise what is the best tuning process. If you have a good base setting I would be very thankful for your advice. Base setting for NEX-5N with the 18-55mm stock lens worked well last time as the weight is similar to the pancake lens with the wide angle extender.

Thanks!View attachment 14818View attachment 14819View attachment 14820

I am using Nex-5R with the SEL 1018 lens, will the bottom plate of V1 fit this? I think the camera is a little bit more rearwards than with the 18-55.

Yes, the new V2 have a extra of 5mm extra, so camera basically can slide back 5mm more than the old gimbal.

Thanks for answer but V2 is much to wide for me - I can only use the V1 but as i understand the bottom plate of V1 will not fit the SEL1018? This will be front mounted.

I can't tell you for sure... but with the 18-55mm, you still have about 5mm left to slid it back on V1
