I'm all over it, I'll take 1

yes need live out, it's usualy an hdmi cable with a 90

any weight is fine

i want mine ready to roll

I would like to know how many of you guys are interested in a Nex5 gimbal?

1. Are you using HDMI video out or small FPV cam? If using HDMI, how small of a cable can you get so it won't restrict the gimbal, can you get just the HDMI plug and solder super thin wire?
2. What is exceptable weight?
3. Do you prefer a ready to go solution or would like to wind your own motor?

I have several mounts under construction with some motors that will definitely accommodate a large DSLR.

One thing that you guys might want to consider when balancing your mount is that a lens hood was an essential omission from the Zenmuse standard configuration from the factory.

My mounts have been modified to allow for a small spirit level to be mounted on the top rail. This is so that you can set the level exactly before T/O.
Then I put on a home made lightweight lens hood. The baffle plate was added to a shortened standard hood.

This is essential to stop Blade Shadow Strobing which occurs when the sunlight hits the front element of the lens after passing through the blade arc. (featured in my next Vid.) Also useful if you want to tape a filter Gel to the front.
I also added a cover/reflector to the trigger unit after moving the IMU to the side so that you can turn on/off the nex-7 by hand. (If you have a Nex-7/Zen you will know the problem)

DONT DO THIS UNLES YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND ACCEPT THAT DJI MAY INVALIDATE YOUR WARRANTEE.

We're also interested in a plug n play light configurable gimbal for GP3 to T3i. PS. GotHeliRC has also been invaluable in quick shipping of various parts, props etc. Highly recommended.

Yes, Nex5n gimbal for me too, including motors, plug N play more or less.

Weight with Nex5n+16mm+ x0,75 adapter (=12mm) is 475grams.
HDMI with 90 degr plug. I could get rid of about 40 grams if not using the battery for the Nex 5 but an adapter instead.

Well, it look like I'm going to have to get a Nex5n... :( But look like Sony is going to discontinue the Nex5n? Can't find it at any local retail store, BestBuy, Frys... ect?

Been looking on Ebay, but kind of sketchy...

I'll trade you one towards a gimbal?

best buy has open box units still at random stores, go check one near you. There just over $400 if you can find em. otherwise, base it off a nex-5r, same thing, new version that took 5n's place, has wifi

Wait, you wanted a Nex5 gimbal, but you're trading your nex5...? either you have 2 nex5 or planning to switch to the newer one? :) I don't think I have a need for the wifi function, unless you can contact the camera function with your phone, but doesn't look like it. The reason why I want to buy a new one from a local store so I can buy the accidental warranty. :D

Look like my local Best Buy have the Nex5-R/K (whatever that K mean) in stock.... since today is a special day, I think I'll just run down there and get myself one. :) Happy Valentines to me!

K means kit and comes with the kit lens. Zenmeuse can't fly that lens, most are using there pancake lenses, but the one equal to the kit lens with image optical stab is expensive.

Some teasing video... got in a few more boards... decided to give the DSLR a quick test. From my observation, look like it was able to move the DSLR as good as the GoPro, same motor. Motor does seem to be running warmer. Further testing would be putting the gopro, but a a extra 800grams of weight and test the video. I believe it will handle a 800-1000grams camera no problemo.

Wow! That is ridiculous. Sign me up for one too please. I'm running with a NEX 5N and a Sony PJ710V Camcorder. Looks like this thing could hoist both of them.

How's the footage from the cam like that?

Hummm... it's my EOS rebel, it only does still, no video. That's why I am going to have to use a GoPro with some weight to check the video. But from holding my hand on the camera when it move, I can feel if there's jittery... doesn't feel any. So I would guess the video should be as smooth (if not better).

How did you separate the stator from the bearing tube? I tried to heat the adhesive with a butane torch and then pry it off, only to bend (and ruin) the stator. On the second one, I left the bearing tube in place, and had a difficult time, but was able to get 150 turns of .2mm for a resistance of about 13.5 ohms. Then I rewound one with 140 turns which resulted in 12.6 ohms. Unfortunately, these don't run very well. The kv is very low, but the motor won't run with any consistentcy. If often requires a bump start, or won't even move using 2S lipo and a 40 amp esc. Do I need the special board to get this to work, or shouldn't it a least spin with a regular esc?
