Gains and settings wanted for a TBS Discovery with 900kv TBS motors and ESC's

Hi,

Do anyone has good Naza settings for a Dji Naza powered TBS discovery?
I tried the ones on TBS website, but that was in my case not working , i hardly made it down in one piece.

Trappy uses 166/135/131/179 and 189/176. I am more fond of 145/145/130/140 and 90/90. Find what works for you.

I too spend much of my FPV flights in Atti mode vs. Manual as I am still learning manual here and there.
Mine are as follows

141-141-120-120
91-91

both the 141's and 91's are on 8FGs knobs and can be adjusted on the fly as in manual mode I increase he 91's (Attitude gains)

the difference between trappy's settings and yours ed is he uses simonK esc's.... when you run them on a naza less than 150 the dam thing flips over in manual on the ground, uncontrollable...... there alot different deal. not saying better or worse, but they use 2 totaly different settings.

Kloner, your are right, different esc's, different settings. I have some 18A SimonK flashed esc's, I have never used them. The DJI's have been fine for me. I have been fortunate in that I have never had faulty soldered plugs or any other problems with them. I must be fortunate. I have a F330 that is my beater quad, I may have to try them out. Thanks for the clarification.

The OP did not state what he was using. Maybe he will clarify.

I assumed the OP was using the DJI ESC's since he said the values didn't work at all with Trappys suggested settings

Thanks for all answers! I really appreciate it. I use the TBS ESC's which is supposedly flashed with simon.

ITs acting really strange, i suspect the naza controller, because it did give me a problem in an earlier dji f550 clone. if i push throttle just a little bit, it bank heavily right.
I also had to manually calibrate the esc's, but perhaps its supposed to be like that?!

turn up your roll gains till it stops.... it should go from slipping off axis to good to oscillating like it's vibrating... on off, on off, on off

Your esc difference between the two models almost makes everything you learned on dji esc's mute

the simonK once tuned will way outperform stability wise.

I've had some flights now on the Disco with the TBS ESC`s and Trappys Gains.
Not happpy at all for now:
-I have to lift off with only 3 props rotating , the 4th kicks in just in time.
-NO PUNCH! Made a big hole in the snow today with a 4000 mah Lipo on board, after a faster descending i had no chance to recover in time.
-The Disco flies greater, well, but when flying fast forward i have more vibra in the gopro footage than as with the Optos.

Trappy is sending me already the cable for calibrating the ESC`s. Wonder if i can calibrate them by myself w/o the cable? And how? Cannot find useful information anywhere (No flashing, just calibrating)

It ended with me changing the Naza, got a new on warranty and everything is totally different... for one thing, this one works! :)
The old one wanted to take off on it's own at each test flight, so i had to go to manual. My F550 has never done this, so i contacted DJI and they replaced it in a way i got impressed. I got this on E-bay, and DJI fixed so i got it replaced by a local distributor in Sweden. Thumbs up for both DJI and the local guy at mikrokopter.nu (which i've bought much from before, but anyway).
Made my first test flight tonight in the dark, a slow fpv test, and some regular hovering around the house.
Flies very nice, a little bit edgy, i will post a video as soon as it is rendered so you can see if you think it is as it should.

I'm also thinking of taking some of the build photos and make a build log. I was pretty thorough when i built it, so it looks nice and hopefully it will work stabile too.
The only thing i immidiately felt i need to do, is replace the fpv camera, or change with the one i have on my F550, because that has way better low light capability and i enjoy flying in the dark.

Hi,

I'm relatively new to quads but learning fast. No newbie with RC planes, EDF and helis (not so good there). Friend help me build first ligthweight aluminum X with KK2. Pretty good and rocket vertical. Anyway, I built a disco with naza and gps (no rocket vertical with throttle limiting), but pretty stable as I learn more and more to adjust gains (still working on it). But It will hover 6" off the ground, I flew in 21mph winds yesterday and even testing RTH with TX on and then off--worked great!

One thing I'm having a hard time finding info on is if a true square X (motor pattern) like the NEX neo or DJI 450 is more stable than the disco?

The disco not only is not square, it's rear blades are also 1" or so closer to frame. I guess that would be a trapezoid.

So that's question 1. does it affect stability, flying, anytihng?

#2, The disco with 10" props are roughly 3/4" from touching---an issue? I have noticed that on 8x4.7 on 4S it's less jittery, but that opens a whole other discussion on motors, battery, and props.

Anyway, any help with those two questions would be great as I am/was thinking of switching over to the NEO.
